El Tepeyac National Park

El Tepeyac National Park is one of a number of federally recognized national parks in Mexico that are protected natural areas and administered by the federal National Commission of Protected Natural Areas, a subsidiary of SEMARNAT . It is one of the few green areas located north of the Mexico City suburbs. 95% of its territory is located in Gustavo A. Madero, D.F. Borough and 5% in the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz. This is one of the large expanses of artificial forest of eucalyptus and was reforested in the first half of the 20th century in the Federal District. The designated territory for the National Park is the Tepeyac Hill, place known for the leyend of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe to indigenous Juan Diego. From the top of the hill a whole view of the Valley of Mexico can be seen. However, this place is threatened by the urban sprawl growing in the surroundings. This park covers part of the Sierra de Guadalupe mountain range and was created through a decree issued on February 18, 1937. Originally it had an extension of 1,500 ha. Even though several other authors indicate different current numbers depending on the type of topographic study applied. 56% of the park is legally an "ejido" and the 44% left is privately owned. Because once the territory had a completely lack of vegetation and was restored after reforestation activities, by decrees issued in 1926, 1937 and 1972, El Tepeyac is now considered a protected National Park under reforestation programs of Local and Federal administration.

Mexico City Mexico Temple

The Mexico City Mexico Temple is the 28th constructed and 26th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . It is located in the north-eastern part of the Mexican capital, Mexico City. The architecture is influenced by the Mayan Revival style, and includes both Aztec and Mayan elements. It is the largest temple outside the United States. The Mexico City Temple was announced on April 3, 1976, and dedicated on December 2, 1983 by Gordon B. Hinckley. The temple was built on a 7-acre plot, has 4 ordinance rooms and 11 sealing rooms, and has a total floor area of 116,642 square feet . It was the first of thirteen Latter-day Saint temples built in Mexico. The temple closed March 30, 2007 for renovations that were expected to take up to 14 months. Renovations were completed and the church conducted guided tours of the temple from October 20 through November 8, 2008. Thomas S. Monson rededicated the temple on Sunday, November 16, 2008. The temple was again closed for renovations in early 2014. A public open house was held from Friday, 14 August 2015, through Saturday, 5 September 2015, excluding Sundays. The temple was rededicated on Sunday, September 13, 2015 by Henry B. Eyring.

Tepeyac

Tepeyac or the Hill of Tepeyac, historically known by the names "Tepeyacac" and "Tepeaquilla", is located inside Gustavo A. Madero, the northernmost delegación or borough of the Mexican Federal District. According to the Catholic tradition, it is the site where Saint Juan Diego met the Virgin of Guadalupe in December of 1531, and received the iconic image of the Lady of Guadalupe. The Basilica of Guadalupe located there is one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world. Spanish colonists erected a Catholic chapel at the site, Our Lady of Guadalupe, "the place of many miracles". Tepeyac Hill "had been a place for worshipping Aztec earth goddesses." Tepeyac is believed to have been a Pre-Columbian worship site for the indigenous mother goddess Tonantzin. In Nahuatl, Tepeyacac is a proper noun, a combination of tepetl , yacatl , and the relational word -c, . According to scholars of the language of Nahuatl, "The term would generally be expected to mean a settlement on the ridge or brow of a hill. Since yacatl often implies antecedence, here the word may refer to the fact that the hill is the first and most prominent of a series of three."

Lord of Miracles of Buga

Our Lord of the Miracles of Guadalajara of Buga , also known as the Lord of the Miracles , is a title associated with a celebrated appeared tridimensional figure of Crucified Jesus Christ, believed that is not made by human hands but of divine origin, and that is housed since the XVI century in a sanctuary Basilica of Our Lord of the Miracles in Guadalajara de Buga City. In this sense the image of the Lord of Miracles of Buga, In the west most interAndean Colombian Valley, is one of the two great Acheiropoietas of the new world, the other one is our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, and that refers exclusively to Jesus Christ. The Basilica of Our Lord of the miracles with around a million visitors per year is by far the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in Colombia and certainly among the south American Andes's most-visited sacred sites attracting every year thousands of devotes from many countries. This minor Basilica is the most famous Catholic non Marian sanctuary in the Americas, although the redemptorist monastic community that administrates it has promoted in the same temple along years the veneration a reproduction of the Cretan icon of our Lady of the Perpetual help, another so famous image that it is believed to be possibly painted when the Holy Virgin St Mary was still alive in Turkey. This painting therefore is one of the strongest candidates to be the lost byzantine Hodegetria. The redemptorist order has the custody of the original icon in the church of Saint Alphonsus di Liguouri, Esquiline Hill, Rome, Italy. The original Hodetria was displayed in the Monastery of the Panaghia Hodegetria in Constantinople, which was built specially to contain it. It was said to have been brought back from the Holy Land by Eudocia, the Empress of Theodosius II , and to have been painted by Saint Luke. Possibly the possession of such a relic by the redentorist order in Europe was what motivated their interest into accept the invitation of the bishop of Popayan to take care the image of Our Lord of Miracles of the Colombian Andes in Buga. This dark skined Christ is also one of the two most famous Acheiropoitas in the world, aside of Our Lady of the Pillar that also appeared miracolously in Zagoza Spain by October of the 40 A.D., that is not a flat image but a tridimensional figure.

Metro Autobuses del Norte

Autobuses del Norte is a station on Line 5 of the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the north of Mexico City, in Gustavo A. Madero borough. The station's logo is a front view of an intercity bus, and the station's name means "northern buses". The name and the logo come from the fact that the Northern intercity bus station is located in front of this metro station. The metro station has an information desk and office with pamphlets about the metro. It also has a counselling service to try to help local street children stay away from drugs and crime. Metro Autobuses del Norte is also served by trolleybus Line "A", which runs between Metro Instituto del Petróleo and Metro Tasqueña, along Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas. The northern bus station serves cities including Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Monterrey and Chihuahua. Some bus lines cross the Mexico-USA border and reach U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, San Antonio and New York City.

Metro Deportivo 18 de Marzo

Metro Deportivo 18 de Marzo is a station on the Mexico City Metro. It is located in Mexico City's Gustavo A. Madero borough. The name of the station refers to the adjacent Deportivo 18 de Marzo sports complex, and its logo represents a player of a pre-Columbian ball game. This station was previously known as Metro Basílica. Its logo and name were taken from the Basílica de Guadalupe Roman Catholic shrine, located one kilometre east of this station. When the Metro authorities changed the name of Metro La Villa to Metro La Villa-Basílica (a station that is only two blocks far Basílica de Guadalupe) they also changed the name of Metro Basílica. Metro Deportivo 18 de Marzo was originally to be named Metro Montevideo (from nearby Avenida Montevideo), according to early plans for Line 3, so this station has changed its name twice. This station serves the Tepeyac Insurgentes and Lindavista neighbourhoods. It offers a connection to Line 1 of the Mexico City Metrobús. Service to this metro station along Metro Line 3 opened on 1 December 1979. Service along Line 6 at the station started on 8 July 1986.

Metro Indios Verdes

Indios Verdes is a station on the Mexico City Metro. Indios Verdes, located in the northern reaches of Mexico City, is the current terminal station for the Metro's Line 3. Indios Verdes literally means "Green Indians". The station and its surrounding area have this name because of nearby monuments to two Aztec emperors, Itzcoatl and Ahuizotl. The two statues – originally planned to be sited in a more central location on Paseo de la Reforma – were made of cast bronze, and the metal has turned green with the passage of time and the effects of the weather. Because of this, people began to call the monuments los indios verdes. The Metro Indios Verdes station logo depicts the statues' silhouettes. The station has two island platforms, one for arriving and one for departing trains. Metro Indios Verdes station plays an important role in transportation for both Mexico City and areas of the surrounding state of México. The station has many entrances and exits, and it connects with many bus and microbuses routes, most of them serving areas in the Estado de México such as Lechería, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Texcoco, towns like Tepexpan and Otumba, and the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán. This station is located near the Mexico City to Nuevo Laredo highway. The "Metrobús" bus rapid transit line was constructed near the metro terminal in 2005; it runs from Metro Indios Verdes all the way down Avenida Insurgentes to Monumento al Caminero in the south of Mexico City. Metro Indios Verdes is the busiest station on the Mexico City metro, with 46.7 million passenger boardings in 2012.

Metro La Raza

Metro La Raza (in English, "Metro The Race") is a station on the Mexico City Metro. It is a combined subway and surface station, located in the Colonia Vallejo and Colonia Héroes de Nacozari neighbourhoods of the Gustavo A. Madero borough, in the north of Mexico City. The station logo depicts the nearby La Raza Monument, a pyramid-shaped construction erected in honor to Mexico's many native peoples and cultures. La Raza is a transfer station that combines underground construction for Line 3 and surface construction for Line 5. The Insurgentes Metrobús bus rapid transit line also has a stop in the vicinity of Metro La Raza. The station opened on 25 August 1978 with service on Line 3 southward towards Tlatelolco. Northward service on Line 3 towards Indios Verdes started 1 December 1979. Southeasterly service along Line 5 towards Consulado started on 1 July 1982, and the northeasterly service towards Politécnico started on 30 August 1982. This station has the largest cultural display in the entire Metro system, known as "El Túnel de la Ciencia" (The Tunnel of Science). This permanent exhibition was installed by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in the extraordinarily long corridor that joins the Line 3 and Line 5 platforms. Metro La Raza has also an information desk and office with miscellaneous information about the Metro, science and more, and facilities for the handicapped.

Metro Martín Carrera

Metro Martín Carrera is a station on the Mexico City Metro. It is located at the borders of the Colonia Martín Carrera, Colonia 15 de Agosto, and Colonia Díaz Mirón districts in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, in the north of Mexico City. The station logo depicts bust of General Martín Carrera, a national hero who fought in the Mexican-American War of 1846–48. Martín Carrera is both a terminal station and a transfer station, linking Lines 4 and 6, both of which terminate here. Like other terminal stations on the network, this one is multimodal: it connects with suburban bus lines that serve areas including Cerro Gordo, Vía Morelos, and others across the state line in México state. The station also connects with trolleybus line "LL", which runs between the San Felipe de Jesús neighbourhood and Metro Hidalgo. This station is near the Basílica de Guadalupe, a Roman Catholic shrine and place of pilgrimage. The station was opened with the others along the northern portion of Line 4 on 29 August 1981. Service along Line 6 started on 8 July 1986.

Metro Talismán

Talismán is a station along Line 4 of the Mexico City Metro, located in Gustavo A. Madero borough. The station logo depicts a stylised image of a mammoth, with raised trunk and tusks. During the construction of this station, the fossilised remains of a mammoth (Mammuthus meridionalis) were dug up by an excavation crew. The fossil is now exhibited in a display in the station. The station was opened on 29 August 1981. Talismán also means "amulet", and an elephant with a raised trunk is considered a good luck symbol. This metro station, like others on Line 4, stands on Avenida Congreso de la Unión. The western exit is on the same block as Procter & Gamble Mexico's Talismán Plant, where soap products including Camay and Safeguard are produced. Trucks delivering tallow and olive oil (raw materials for soap) are a common sight around the station. Talisman is served by several Pesero routes to Potrero, Tepito and Merced. It is also served by RTP Bus services on Avenida Congreso.
