Aguascalientes

Aguascalientes is the capital of the state of Aguascalientes and is its most populous city, with a metropolitan population of 1,000,000. It is located in North-Central Mexico. It is part of the macroregion of Bajío, which is among the safest regions in Mexico. Aguascalientes has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life in Latin America. Nowadays, Aguascalientes is a vigorous service city that is experiencing an ongoing social, economic, and aesthetic revitalization process. It stands on the banks of the Río Aguascalientes, 1880 meters above sea level, at 21°51′N 102°18′W. It is the municipal seat for the Aguascalientes Municipality.The Aguascalientes metropolitan area includes the municipality of Jesus María y San Francisco de los Romo. It was a Chichimeca Indian territory. It later blossomed as a strategic link between Mexico City and the mines of Zacatecas, while prosperous agriculture and ranching helped feed Spain’s emerging New World cities. OECD has recognized Aguascalientes as having the best business climate standards in the world. It is a strong business and economic centre in the Bajío region. Its strategic location and excellent infrastructure have made it a regional hub and a popular location for international headquarters. Its first-class services and hotel industry turn it into one of the most important centers in Mexico with numerous options of entertainment, gastronomy, leisure activities, arts and recreation

Teatro Aguascalientes

The Teatro Aguascalientes or Aguascalientes Opera House is a theater which functions as the main opera house of the city of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes in Mexico. The modern-style building is the work of the architect Abraham Zabludowsky and features a majestic stage and an audience capacity of 1650. This theater opened its doors to the public on August 16, 1991, with the performance of an operetta. It is considered to be the largest stage for the promotion of art and culture in the city. During the national fair of San Marcos, this venue is host to the folk culture spectacle known as "ferial". The opera house also hosts classical music concerts, popular music, theater plays, ballet, and other shows. The theater is situated in its own grounds, which include a parking lot for 300 vehicles, and spacious gardens. Entry to the opera house is through a foyer, characterised by its cylindrical columns. The audience seating is on two floors, the upper of which consists of a gallery and six theater boxes, each with the capacity for six spectators. The total capacity of the house is 1650 people. It is equipped with air conditioning, sound, and digitally controlled lighting. The stage is 49.2 ft in width and 42.6 ft in depth and its facilities are comparable with those of the most sophisticated theatres.

Nochistlán

Calvillo is a city in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. The town serves as the municipal seat of the surrounding municipality of Calvillo. Calvillo is the second most populated city in the state, surpassed in importance only by the capital city. It is located to the western part of the state, at about 52 kilometers of the city of Aguascalientes. It stands at 21°51′N 102°43′W in the southwestern corner of the state. Calvillo has to offer several attractions and interesting places. One of them is the Main Square, dated from 1778 is famous for its orange trees. In this square is Eagle Trail which indicates the Independence route. The temple of our Lord of the Salitre, built in 1772, in which interior the paintings are considered true jewels of religious art. The beautiful dome toppling the church has an exceptional size and diameter. Its rarest feature is that it is made as a single architectural piece; so, for domes like this one, there exist only five in the whole world. There are also exquisite frescoes depicting the life of St Joseph, the patron of the city. The Guadalupe Temple is another important church with majestic towers. Another interesting place is the Malpaso Dam. The outskirts of Calvillo are a magnet for tourists. The Sierra del Laurel, south of the town, is a prolongation of Sierra Fría and highly sought-after by rock climbers because of its steep sides. Also nearby are the La Cordorniz Dam, and the ex-convent of the Tepozán, where, at the bottom of the gully, there is a rocky area with cave paintings. The prehistoric paintings of El Tepozan show diverse figures in different colors imprinted in various eras. Very close to these two attractions, in the town of La Panadera, it is still practiced the old craft of embroidery and unthreading or "deshilados", the states craft by excellence. Calvillo is the largest guava producer in Mexico and famous for its superb confectionery and liqueurs made from this fruit, which you can sample at the Guava Fair held during the first week of December. The economy in Calvillo is centered on the guava, although there is other agriculture and a great deal of commerce. Calvillo is better known as the world capital of the guava. People from calvillo are called "Calvillences".

San Francisco de los Romo

Pabellón de Arteaga is a city in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. It stands at 22°09′N 102°16′W in the central part of the state. The city serves as the municipal seat of the municipality of Pabellón de Arteaga. As of 2010, the city had a total population of 28,633, up from 26,797 in 2005. It is the third-largest city in the state behind Aguascalientes and Jesús María. Its principal public party is on November 20 in a party called Feria de La Revolucion who commemorates the national uprising against Porfirio Díaz in 1910. Most of the people in this town study and work in the city of Aguascalientes. It is a half hour drive from Pabellon de Arteaga to Aguascalientes. Also every half hour a public transportation service called Las Combis go to Aguascalientes. Pabellon has three high schools, two junior high schools, and several elementary schools. On Mondays a traveling marketplace called "El Tianguis" set shop on the streets of Pabellon.

Rincón de Romos

Rincón de Romos is a city in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. Located at 22°14′N 102°19′W in the northern part of the state, it serves as the municipal seat of the surrounding municipality of Rincón de Romos. As of 2010, the city had a total population of 27,988. Most of the inhabitants of Rincón de Romos are Catholic. Rincón de Romos celebrates a "Fiesta" to the Señor de las Angustias on January with dances and pyrotechnic games. There is a church to him downtown. Most of the locals work as teachers. The city was once home to a priest named Padre Nieves who people believed made miracles. He has a church in the city, and many people go to Rincón de Romos to pray for miracles. Rincón de Romos has the biggest rural hospital ruled by the government of Aguascalientes. Rincón de Romos is a town located in the central-northern region of Aguascalientes, Mexico. In 1639, the Real Audiencia of Guadalajara authorized the creation of a little town, which became known throughout time as Chora. In 1658, Captain Diego Ramon bought the majority of the land of Hacienda de Rincón from Don Pedro Rincon of Arteaga. Consequently, this business deal combined both names and changed the town name of Chora to Rincón de Romos. Its coordinates are 102°19’ E longitude, and 22°14’ N latitude, with an altitude of 1,940 meters above sea level. Rincón de Romos borders the municipality of Cosío on the north, Pabellón de Arteaga to the south, Tepezalá on the east and San Jose de Gracia on the west. It is divided into 64 towns, of which the most important are the municipal capitals: Rincón de Romos, the town of Pabellón de Hidalgo, Pablo Escaleras, San Jacinto and El Bajio. It makes up a surface area of 372.93 square meters, representing 6.7% of the state’s territory. Rincón de Romos is part of the province of the Sierra Madre Occidental. In the province of the Mesa Central are semi-flat zones in the center and northeastern parts of the city, as well as flat areas in the center and northeast between the Fria and Loreto mountains.

Nochistlán

Nochistlán is a town in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán, on December 3, 1531, hired Cristóbal de Oñate to establish a village in Nochistlán; the village would be named Guadalajara to honor Guzmán for having been born in Guadalajara. Guadalajara was founded in Nochistlán on January 5, having as officials Cristóbal de Oñate, Sancho Ortíz de Zuñiga and Miguel Ibarra. They worked at this project for only 16 months and created the first layout of Guadalajara. The first news that we have regarding the natives of these lands points to the Tecuexe. These people established settlements around 1000. Later in the 12th century a new group of people moved in, these people were called Caxcan and they were from the valley in Tuitlán, which is now found in the municipality of Villa Nueva, Zacatecas. The Caxcan established Nochistlán by driving out the Tecuexe by force.
