Jardines del Pedregal

Jardines del Pedregal or simply El Pedregal is an upscale residential colonia in southern Mexico City hosting one of the richest mansions of the city. It borders are San Jerónimo Avenue and Ciudad Universitaria at the north, Insurgentes Avenue at the east and Periférico at south and west. Its 1,250 acres were the major real estate project undertaken by Mexican modernist architect Luis Barragán. When it was originally developed, in the mid-1940s in the lava fields of the Pedregal de San Ángel, it was probably the biggest urban development the city had seen. The first house to be built here was the studio/home of architect Max Cetto. The area has changed a lot since its original development but even as its modernist spirit and its original elements of ecosystem protection are gone critics have described its original development, the houses and gardens as a turning point in Mexican architecture. Some of the old modernist houses have been catalogued as part of Mexico’s national patrimony.

Metro Barranca del Muerto

Metro Barranca del Muerto is a station on the Mexico City Metro, Mexico. It is located in the Álvaro Obregón borough. Its logo represents two eagles, some say buzzards. The metro station is named after Avenida Barranca del Muerto, that was once a big depression, the same length of the actual avenue (barranca means gully or ravine). During the Mexican Revolution (1910 – 1921) this was a place where revolutionary soldiers dropped many corpses. Eagles and buzzards flew nearby, smelling rotten flesh. Popular imagination refers to the dead people's souls and ghosts restlessly promenading near that big hole. Thus, Barranca del Muerto means something like "Dead Man's Gully". It serves Guadalupe Inn and Campestre neighborhoods. South of Barranca del Muerto is the famous San Jacinto's Saturday market (Bazar de los sábados de San Jacinto) where artists sell paintings, plants and other handcrafts. This station is a provisional terminal, there are plans to continue this line to San Jeronimo, at the south of the city. The station has two separated platforms, one used for arriving trains and another one for departing trains. The exit is at the middle of the platforms. There are two exits, located at the intersection of Avenida Revolución (which leads further to San Ángel), Macedonio Alcala, and Calle Alfonso Caso. Metro Barranca del Muerto was open on December 19, 1985 together with the whole 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) long extension stretch of Line 7 from Tacubaya.

Metro Observatorio

Metro Observatorio is a station on Line 1 of the Mexico City Metro system. It is located in the Álvaro Obregón borough of Mexico City, west of the city centre. This station is the western terminus of Line 1. The station logo represents the stylised dome of an astronomical observatory. It is named after an observatory that was built by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México at the top of a hill near the station. However, due to the light pollution that came as a consequence of urban growth hardly any observations were done in the observatory, and thus it was transformed into a planetarium. Previously on the site was a colonial palace that belonged to the city's Bishop. This station is one of the most important metro terminus in the city. It serves Mexico City's western bus depot, which connects with areas of western Mexico such as México state, Michoacán, Jalisco, Querétaro and others. The Observatorio Mexico City Metro station is the 1st station of Line 1 and the Mexico City Metro system. Service at this station began June 10, 1971. This Mexico City Metro train station is underground. The trains take passengers to Tacubaya, Juanacatlán, Chapultepec, Sevilla, Insurgentes, Cuáuhtemoc, Balderas, Salto del Agua, Isabel la Catolica, Pino Suárez, Merced, Candelaria, San Lazaro, Moctezuma, Balbuena, Boulevard Puerto Aéreo, Gómez Farías, Zaragoza, and Pantitlán Mexico City Metro stations. Originally line 9 had its plans to end here, even pictograms in line 1 showed this station as a transfer station for line 9. But for an unknown reason the station wasn't built and the line 9 finished at Tacubaya. Observatorio will the eastern terminus for Toluca–Mexico City commuter rail when the line commences regular service in 2018.

Metro Viveros / Derechos Humanos

Metro Viveros / Derechos Humanos (formerly known as Metro Viveros) is a metro station along Line 3 of the Mexico City Metro. It is located between the Álvaro Obregón and Coyoacán boroughs of Mexico City. The station logo depicts the silhouette of a plant, and the metro station is named after the nearby Viveros de Coyoacán arboretum and nursery (parts of which are a publicly accessible park and a popular area for recreation), founded by engineer Miguel Ángel de Quevedo in the former ranch of Panzacola. The station opened on 30 August 1983. Metro Viveros / Derechos Humanos serves the Colonia Barrio de Santa Catarina, Florida, and Axotla neighbourhoods, and is mainly used to link with the bus lines on Avenida Universidad. Inside the station is a mural by artist Jason Schell entitled A Sunday Afternoon Under Mexico City (Una Tarde Dominical Bajo la Ciudad de Mexico).
