Valentines Mansion

Valentines Mansion is situated within Valentines Park in Ilford, Redbridge. It was built in 1696 for Lady Tillotson, the widow of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and remained a family house until Sarah Ingleby, its last inhabitant, died on 3 January 1906. It became the property of Ilford Borough Council in 1912 and was used as council offices until 1994. It is owned by the London Borough of Redbridge and operated by Vision Ltd, a local charitable Trust, on behalf of the Council. It is a Grade II* listed building and was on the Buildings at Risk Register until 2009. It has undergone an extensive refurbishment financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the London Borough of Redbridge. The Mansion is set in an 18th-century formal garden. The garden itself has a Grade II listing from English Heritage and has also been extensively restored.

Ilford Animal Cemetery

Ilford Animal Cemetery is an animal cemetery in Ilford, London, England, containing over three thousand burials. It was founded in the 1920s and is operated by the PDSA. The cemetery was closed to new burials in the 1960s and gradually became neglected and overgrown. In the early twenty-first century it was restored with the assistance of a £50,000 grant from the National Lottery. Headstones were repaired or replaced, the entrance gate was repaired, the graves were numbered and a visitors map was created. The cemetery re-opened in 2007 with a ceremony that included a performance of the Last Post by a bugler from the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and a pigeon fly-past . It was attended by two holders of the PDSA Gold Medal, Jake and Endal . Also present was Commander Stuart Hett, who had been an officer aboard HMS Amethyst and had been tasked with responding to the many letters received by the ships heroic cat, Simon, who is buried at Ilford. The burials are a mixture of family pets and military animals, including thirteen recipients of the Dickin Medal for bravery . The first Dickin Medal recipient to be buried at Ilford was Rip, a Second World War search and rescue dog. Information boards recounting the stories of several of the animals were constructed during the recent restoration. The cemetery has an area specifically dedicated to bird burials. It also has a Pet Tribute Garden designed by celebrity gardener Bob Flowerdew. The inspiration for the design was the Dickin Medal, which has stripes of brown, blue and green representing sea, land and air forces. The garden includes a pet tribute tag dedicated to Endal, the assistance dog which was present at the re-opening ceremony but which died in 2009. The cemetery is behind the PDSA on Woodford Bridge Road, Redbridge, Ilford, Essex, IG4 5PS. Exchange Ilford

The Exchange Ilford is the main retail shopping mall in the town centre of Ilford, officially within the London Borough of Redbridge . It was owned by The Mall Fund for a period of time but has now been sold and reverted to its original name of The Exchange Mall. It trades from three levels of retail, though its architectural design layout has resulted in the lower floor of retail being separated into two parts, meaning customers wishing to access both parts of the lower level have to travel between the sections via the middle level. There is also an upper level of retail and food court facilities accessed from the middle level. Transit between levels is via a series of lifts, stairs and escalators within the Mall; in addition, some stores trade from two or more levels of the mall. The Exchanges anchor stores are Debenhams, Marks Spencer, TK Maxx and Wilkinsons . A new Primark store has opened adjacent to the Exchange. Other major stores within The Mall Ilford include WH Smith, New Look, Sports Direct, Clinton Cards, Burger King, Ryman, Poundland, Peacocks, 99p Stores, The Body Shop, Thorntons and GAME. More stores are located just outside of the Exchange, including an Argos, Waterstones and the recently opened Primark. The design and layout of some of the stores is notable: the Marks Spencer store is bisected by the Mall site: at ground level it is accessile from the High Road by its external doors either side of the Mall entrance, whilst on the middle level of the mall it is accessible from two entrances facing opposite each other . One of the two sides of MS is also publicly accessible from the Upper level of the Mall. TK Maxx was initially two separate stores facing each other on opposite sides of the Mall, but this has more recently been changed, with the extension of TK Maxx across the mall area to create a single unified store, in effect splitting the lower mall into three segments, with a third section around the Cranbrook Road entrance which is now separated from the other main part of the lower mall by TK Maxx. Past architectural features of the mall were a, now defunct, granite floating sphere and a wishing fountain. The centre is accessible by car, with access to parking via Havelock Street and Ley Street. The centre is also served by the numerous Transport for London bus services which serve central Ilford.

Redbridge College

Redbridge College is a further education college based over two sites in north-east London, England. The college has two main campuses, in Ilford (51.5598°N 0.0708°E / 51.5598; 0.0708 (Redbridge College, Ilford Campus)) and Romford (51.5799°N 0.1181°E / 51.5799; 0.1181 (Redbridge College, Chadwell Heath Campus)), and offers a range of courses including BTECs, Diplomas, ESOL programmes and Access courses. In addition, Redbridge College offers some higher education courses in conjunction with the University of East London. Redbridge College began life as Redbridge Technical College on 2 June 1970. It now offers vocational courses in a range of subjects including Beauty Therapy, Business Studies, ESOL, Graphic Design & Media, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Hospitality & Catering, Information Technology, Music, Science and Sports Studies, as well as offering students a variety of extra curricular activities. As well as offering a range of vocational courses to 14- to 18-year-olds and adult learners, Redbridge College has a variety of facilities available to the public. These include the award-winning Rouge Restaurant and the Evolution professional hair and beauty salons.

Goodmayes railway station

Goodmayes railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line serving the district of Goodmayes in the London Borough of Redbridge, east London. It is 9 miles 23 chains (14.9 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Seven Kings and Chadwell Heath. Its three-letter station code is GMY and it is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station was opened in 1901 by the Great Eastern Railway. It is currently managed by TfL Rail. Train services call at Goodmayes as part of the Shenfield-Liverpool Street stopping "metro" service. In December 2018 the TfL Rail service will be re-branded as the Elizabeth line as part of the Crossrail project. In May 2019 the Elizabeth line service will be extended beyond Liverpool Street to Paddington, with onward connections from there to Reading and Heathrow Airport.

Ilford railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line serving the town of Ilford in the London Borough of Redbridge, east London. It is 7 miles 29 chains (11.8 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Manor Park and Seven Kings. Its three-letter station code is IFD and it is in Travelcard zone 4. The station was opened in 1839 by the Eastern Counties Railway. It is currently managed by TfL Rail. Services call at Ilford as part of the Shenfield-Liverpool Street stopping "metro" service. In December 2018 the TfL Rail service will be re-branded as the Elizabeth line as part of the Crossrail project. In May 2019 the Elizabeth line service will be extended beyond Liverpool Street to Paddington, with onward connections from there to Reading and Heathrow Airport.

Seven Kings railway station

Seven Kings railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line serving the district of Seven Kings in the London Borough of Redbridge, east London. It is 8 miles 46 chains (13.8 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Ilford and Goodmayes. Its three-letter station code is SVK and it is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station was opened in 1899 by the Great Eastern Railway. It is currently managed by TfL Rail. Services call at Seven Kings as part of the Shenfield-Liverpool Street stopping "metro" service. In December 2018 the TfL Rail service will be re-branded as the Elizabeth line as part of the Crossrail project.
