Rose Memorial Auditorium

The Rose Memorial Auditorium is a large multi-purpose theater on the campus of Central Philippine University in Jaro, Iloilo City. Rose is the largest auditorium in Western Visayas with a seating capacity of ~4000+ and has hosted over 100+ international and local concerts, conventions and events. The present day structure was built in the 90s after the old one was burned down by fire. Recently, the Cultural Center of the Philippines has designated the Rose Memorial Auditorium for three-year Memorandum of Understanding, as one of the first batch of nine Cultural Center of the Philippines Regional Art Centers or Kaisa sa Sining Regional Art Centers in 2014. With exception to the concerts that Rose hosts, it is also the venue for religious convocations of Central Philippine University and an biennial convention of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches.

Central Philippine University Library

The Central Philippine University Library is a library system located on the campus of the Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, Philippines. Central Philippine University Library is one of the largest libraries in the Philippines (largest library in Western Visayas). The library has more than 250,000 volumes including holdings of special collections like the 40,000 United Nations Documents, American Studies Resource Center, Meyer-Asian Collection, Food and Agriculture Organization and Elizabeth Knox Sacred Music Collection. Rare collections of Second World War documents and Asian archaeological artifacts is also in the collection of the main library. The CPU Library System is composed of various libraries where the Henry Luce III Library is the main library. Henry Luce III Library, the main library, encompasses the library system's departmental libraries and was constructed and funded through the Henry Luce Foundation by Henry Luce III, the elder son of the founder and editor in chief of Time Inc.. The Central Philippine University Library has been designated by the Philippine National Statistics Office as National Statistics Office (NSO) Information Center for Western Visayan region. The Henry Luce III is also a depository of the United Nations and the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). The library is a regular recipient of library materials from international and local organizations and centers such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Population Council in New York, National Library of the Philippines in Manila, Australian Centre for Publication Acquired for Development (ACPAD), Population Information Network, and the International Rice Research Institute (in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines). Through the library system’s American Studies Resource Center (ASRC), which is located in the main library (Henry Luce III Library), is also a regular recipient from the: Thomas Jefferson Information Center in Manila (one of the 13 such centers in the Philippines), and the United States Information Service. The Henry Luce III Library's American Studies Resource Center helps/assists students who want to study in the United States through its Educational Advising Program. A Knowledge for Development Center, donated by the World Bank in consortium with the University was launched in 2008 The CPU World Bank Knowledge for Development Center is one of such centers which are hubs for dialogue and research on development issues established by the World Bank in key cities around the country in partnership with leading state and private universities. The library system maintains accord with the Silliman University and Trinity University of Asia libraries.

University Church

The University Church, Central Philippine University, commonly referred as University Church, UC or CPU Church, is located on the main campus of the Central Philippine University, Jaro District, Iloilo City, Philippines. Officially, the church was founded in 1913. The present church building was built after an older chapel housed in Rose Memorial Hall was destroyed by fire in 1995. Notably, the church architecture is resonant of an Indonesian or Malayan style of house built on palm leaves and bamboo and is a famous landmark in Iloilo. It is independent from the University and is a member of Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches . The church seats almost 1,000 people. A denominational church, it hosts weekly and mid week Congregational Christian Protestant worship services. It also hosts several annual special events, such as baccalaureate services and commencements.

Central Philippine University

Central Philippine University is a private research university in Iloilo City, Philippines. It was established in 1905 through a grant given by the American business magnate, industrialist and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller under the auspices of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, it is the first Baptist founded and second American university in the Philippines and Asia. It initially consisted of two separate schools: the Jaro Industrial School for boys and the Baptist Missionary Training School that trains ministers and other Christian workers. In 1913, women began to be admitted to the school for boys, and in 1920 the school started offering high school education. The school for boys became a junior college and started offering college degrees in 1923 and changed its name to Central Philippine College. In 1936 the junior college became a senior college and two years after it in 1938, the Baptist Missionary Training School merged with the theology department of the college. In 1953, the college attained university status. Central pioneered nursing education in the Philippines, when Presbyterian American missionaries established the Union Mission Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1906. In the same year, the CPU Republic (Central Philippine University Republic), the university's official student governing body, was organized, making it as the first established student governing body in South East Asia. Central was also the first institution to pioneer the work-study programs in the country that were later patterned and followed by other institutions. The university's hospital, the Iloilo Mission Hospital, which was established in 1901 by the Presbyterian Americans, is the first American and Protestant founded hospital in the Philippines, predating the founding of CPU by four years. The university is affiliated with the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches and maintains fraternal ties with the International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches, known before as the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, but maintains to be non-sectarian and independent. CPU consists of fifteen schools and colleges that provides instruction in basic education all the way up to the post-graduate levels. In the undergraduate and graduate levels, its disciplines include accountancy, arts and sciences, business, computer studies, education, engineering, law, mass communication, medical laboratory sciences, medicine, pharmacy, lifestyle and fitness, tourism, nursing and theology. The Commission on Higher Education has granted the University a full autonomous status, the same government agency that accredited some of its programs as Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development. while its Civil Engineering program has been designated by the Department of Science and Technology as Center for Civil Engineering Education. It has also been registered and declared as a National Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and certifies as one of the few ISO certified educational institutions in the Philippines by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Recently, through international collaborations with other institutions, CPU has offered international undergraduate, graduate and doctorate extension programs in Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese universities, especially the Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration in Vietnam.

Iloilo Business Park

Iloilo Business Park is a 72-hectare mixed-use master-planned community development in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, Philippines by Megaworld Corporation. It is located on the property of the former Iloilo Airport which the conglomerate acquired for 1.2 billion pesos from the national government. Megaworld is projected to pour in P25 billion for the entire development in a span of years. It is an integrated township project that will feature a commercial district, a lifestyle mall, office buildings catering to business process outsourcing firms, boutique and deluxe hotels, and a convention center. Initial development includes construction of a road network, the 12-storey Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Richmonde Tower, Festive Walk, Two Business Process Outsourcing office buildings. The IT complex has been certified as an information technology park by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority , granting locators perks such as tax holidays and duty-free importation of equipment among others. Megaworld is setting aside a 9.7-hectare lot for the boutique hotel and commercial district which is being offered to interested business owners. Iloilo Business Park increased by an additional 18 hectares, bringing the project to roughly 72 hectares from its initial 54.5 hectare-size. This is due to the increasing demand for residential and commercial properties and good reception to Megaworld's first development in the region and biggest township in the Visayas, modeled after the live-work-play approach that it claims to have pioneered in the Philippines.

West Visayas State University

West Visayas State University is a State and Normal Research University located in Western Visayas region of the Philippines with its main campus in La Paz, Iloilo City. Established formally in 1924 as Iloilo Normal School under the Philippine normal school system during the American colonial period in the Philippines under the tutelage of the Thomasites, it dates back its founding 22 years later when the university's College of Education was founded in 1902. It later became West Visayas State College in 1965 and became a university and changed its name to West Visayas State University in 1986. The university is one of the twenty accredited Philippine Universities of the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific and one of the most prominent institutions in the Visayas in the field of Teacher Education, Nursing and Medicine. The West Visayas State University is a university system where there are different separate campuses while the main campus is composed of nine schools and colleges and one institute. The Philippine Commission on Higher Education has also designated the university throught its main campus as the Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and Center of Development in Nursing.

Mandurriao

Mandurriao is one of the seven districts of Iloilo City, located in the Philippines. It is bounded by Molo to the south and west, City Proper to the south and east, and La Paz to the north. The district is one of three major commercial areas in Iloilo City, the others being Molo and Jaro. Alongside the Iloilo City Diversion Road, also known as Ninoy Aquino Avenue, which passes through Mandurriao, one can see many commercial buildings, as well as billboards along the sides of the road. The largest mall in Iloilo City, SM City Iloilo, is located along the Diversion Road. Also on the Diversion Road are many stores and other businesses. Smallville City along with Riverside Boardwalk and Esplanade Walk are the newest bustling commercial and leisure areas in the district featuring upscale restaurants, bars and hotels promising an emergence of a modern nightlife in Iloilo City. Iloilo City's old domestic airport, Mandurriao Airport, is located in the district, and as such takes its name from it. With the opening of Iloilo International Airport outside of the city, the old airport was converted into the Iloilo Business Park, a new business development spearheaded by Megaworld Corporation.

Central Philippine University - College of Engineering

The Central Philippine University College of Engineering, abbreviated as COE, it is one of the constituent colleges of Central Philippine University, a private university in Iloilo City, Philippines. Founded in 1936 during the American presidency of Central, Harland F. Stuart, it is one of the oldest engineering schools in the Philippines founded by the Americans during the American colonization of the Philippines. It later changed its status to a full college when Central Philippine College became a university in 1953. The college has been designated as a Centers of Development in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering by the Commission on Higher Education (the only engineering school in the Western Visayas region and one of the few in the country with Center of Development designation). The college is also the only Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Engineering school, Heat Transfer Facility and Center for Civil Engineering Education for Western Visayas region. The college has various research and auxiliary centers under its umbrella which includes the CPU Affiliated Renewable Energy Center (serves the whole Western Visayas area which is funded jointly by the Department of Energy (Philippines)) and the CPU Philippine Center for Packaging Engineering and Technology, the first of its kind in the South East Asia (backed by the college's department of Packaging Engineering and the Department of Science and Technology (Philippines).) The college collaborates since 2012 in the fields of Transportation and Structural engineering research with De la Salle University. The college confers seven undergraduate degrees with two degrees, the Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Software, both firsts in the Philippines.

Central Philippine University - College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences

The Central Philippine University College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences [formerly Central Philippine University College of Nursing] constitute as one of the schools and colleges of Central Philippine University. It was founded in 1906 as Union Mission Hospital Training School for Nurses, it is the first Nursing School in the Philippines. The school later changed its name to Iloilo Mission Hospital School of Nursing when Union Mission Hospital changed its name to Iloilo Mission Hospital. After postwar World War II, the school was transferred to the main campus of Central Philippine University where it was also renamed to Central Philippine University College of Nursing. Some allied health sciences academic programs that was established and was offered by other colleges of Central Philippine University was transferred to the college where it was recently renamed to College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. The college at present offers academic programs in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical technology, Respiratory therapy and fitness and lifestyle management. The college is also one of the leading nursing schools in the country, ranking seventh based on the school's performance in the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination. The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences still maintains affiliation with Iloilo Mission Hospital as its base hospital for clinical training and off campus academic classes.

Central Philippine University - College of Theology

The Central Philippine University College of Theology is one of the constituent academic units of Central Philippine University, a private university in Iloilo City, Philippines. Originally founded in 1905 as the Bible School to train men Christian workers and missionaries through a grant given by the American industrialist and Northern Baptist John D. Rockefeller, it is the oldest college of Central. It later merged and became a department a year after when Jaro Industrial School became a junior college in 1923. In 1953 when Central Philippine College became a university, the department became the College of Theology. The college is affiliated with the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches and is accredited with the Association of Theological Education in South East Asia .

Iloilo Mission Hospital

Iloilo Mission Hospital (also referred to as Mission Hospital, Mission or IMH) is a private tertiary, training and teaching hospital located in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines. It was established in 1901 by Joseph Andrew Hall, a Physician and missionary of the Presbyterian Foreign Mission Board, is the first Protestant and American founded hospital in the Philippines (Second American Hospital in Asia after the Canton Hospital in China). The hospital pioneered the Nursing Education in the Philippines through the establishment of the Union Mission Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1906, the present day Central Philippine University College of Nursing. Iloilo Mission Hospital serves as the university hospital of Central Philippine University. It operates independently from Central Philippine University but administered by the university's board of trustees and personnels. Iloilo Mission Hospital predates CPU founding by four years. Iloilo Mission Hospital serves as a teaching, training and laboratory hospital and facility for the university and the community in general for Medicine, Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Medical Social Work, Pharmacy, Nutrition and Dietetics, while the College of Theology (for its chaplaincy program). In 2001, Iloilo Mission Hospital celebrated its centennial, commemorating its century of existence and its contribution since its founding in 1901 to the Philippine and American colonial history in the Philippines and in Asia as it pioneered the Nursing education in the Philippines, as the first Protestant founded hospital in the country and the second American hospital in Asia. The centennial building was inaugurated in the hospital area proper and the hospital acquisition of the Philips MX8000 CT Scan machine, the first of its kind in South East Asia Iloilo Mission Hospital is accredited also for residency training program in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and with Family Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Elmer Pedregosa serves as the current Hospital Director. Although founded by the Presbyterian missionaries, it is subsequently affiliated with the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches, but independent.
