Manila Ocean Park

The Manila Ocean Park is an oceanarium in Manila, Philippines. It is owned by China Oceanis Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of China Oceanis Inc., a Singaporean-registered firm that has operated four oceanariums in China. It is located behind the Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park. It opened on March 1, 2008. In terms of floor space, the 8,000 square metres oceanarium is larger than the Sentosa Underwater World oceanarium in Singapore, and features a 25-metre underwater acrylic tunnel.

UST Museum of Arts and Sciences

The University of Santo Tomas Museum of Arts and Sciences is the oldest existing museum in the Philippines. Started as a Gabinete de Fisica, an observation room of mineral, botany and biology collections in the 17th century. Under the old Spanish educational law the collections were used as classroom materials for the courses in science especially in Medicine and Pharmacy.

San Agustin Church

San Agustin Church is a Roman Catholic church under the auspices of The Order of St. Augustine, located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. In 1993, San Agustin Church was one of four Philippine churches constructed during the Spanish colonial period to be designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, under the collective title Baroque Churches of the Philippines. It was named a National Historical Landmark by the Philippine government in 1976.

Museum of the Filipino People

The Museum of the Filipino People, is a component museum of the National Museum of the Philippines that houses the anthropology and archaeology divisions. It is located in the Agrifina Circle, Rizal Park, Manila adjacent to the main National Museum building which houses the National Art Gallery. The building formerly housed the Department of Finance. It also houses the wreck of the San Diego, ancient artifacts, and zoology divisions.

Fort Santiago

Fort Santiago is a citadel first built by Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi for the new established city of Manila in the Philippines. The defense fortress is part of the structures of the walled city of Manila referred to as Intramuros . The fort is one of the most important historical sites in Manila. Several lives were lost in its prisons during the Spanish Colonial Period and World War II. José Rizal, the Philippine national hero, was imprisoned here before his execution in 1896. The Rizal Shrine museum displays memorabilia of the hero in their collection and the fort features, embedded onto the ground in bronze, his footsteps representing his final walk from his cell to the location of the actual execution. It is a few hundred steps away from the Manila Cathedral and Palacio del Gobernador .

Manila Cathedral

The Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica, informally known as Manila Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic basilica located in Manila, Philippines, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, the Principal Patroness of the Philippines. The cathedral serves as the see of the Archbishop of Manila. Located at Plaza de Roma in the Intramuros district of the City of Manila, the cathedral was originally a parish church owned and governed by the Archdiocese of Mexico in 1571, until it became a separate diocese on 6 February 1579 upon the issuance of the papal bull, Illius Fulti Praesido by Pope Gregory XIII. The cathedral was damaged and destroyed several times since the original structure was built in 1581 while the eighth and current instance of the cathedral was finally completed in 1958. The basilica has merited a papal endorsement from Pope Gregory XIII and three apostolic visits from Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis. On 27 April 1981, Pope Saint John Paul II issued papal bull Quod Ipsum designating the cathedral as a minor basilica by his own Motu Proprio.

San Agustin Church

The Cathedral of the Holy Child, the National Cathedral of Philippine Independent Church, is the seat of the Obispo Maximo, its Chief Pastor and Spiritual Head, located in Ermita, Manila, Philippines. The National Cathedral was built in 1969 and dedicated to the honor of the Holy Infant Jesus, Patron Saint of Tondo, Manila. It replaced the first Cathedral in Tondo, Manila, which was completely destroyed during World War II.

Gota de Leche

Gota de Leche is a foundation started by Trinidad Rizal and Concepcion Felix on 1906 that primarily aims to provide nutritional and medical needs of indigent Filipino mothers and their children. Founded by La Protección de la Infancia Inc., Gota de Leche means "drop of milk." The foundation continues to deliver daily milk rations to Filipino infants Its headquarters, the Gota de Leche building located at 859 S. Loyota St., Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, designed by architects Juan Arellano and Arcadio Arellano (founding father of Philippine architecture), was awarded Honourable Mention by the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2003. This opened further support from the National Commission on Culture and the Arts. The Gota de Leche Building was declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as an Important Cultural Property in August 2014.

Rizal Shrine

The Rizal Shrine dedicated to the lifework of José Rizal is located on Santa Clara Street, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila, 1002 Philippines. This is a fortified complex which houses the building the Philippines national hero spent his last night and where his family later found concealed in an oil lamp, the famous poem Mi último adiós . The shrine is home to various memorabilia such as the shells he collected in Dapitan, books, manuscripts and artworks belonging to the prodigious and multifaceted Rizal. Fort Santiago served as barracks for Spanish artillery soldiers during Spains colonization of the islands.

National Planetarium

The National Planetarium, also known as the National Museum Planetarium (shortened as NM Planetarium), is a planetarium owned and operated by the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila. It is a 16-metre (52 ft) dome located in Rizal Park between the Japanese Garden and Chinese Garden on Padre Burgos Avenue in the central district of Ermita. It opened on October 8, 1975, and has been in operation since then.

Arch of the Centuries

The Arch of the Centuries is a triumphal arch at the Plaza Intramuros of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, in the Philippines that stands fifteen metres away from the universitys Millennium Gate along España Boulevard. The present single structure puts together, back-to-back, the ruins of the original Intramuros arch, which faces the Main Building, and its replica, fronting España Boulevard. The arch was formerly the original entrance to the university when the campus was still in Intramuros during the years from 1611 to 1941. It was declared by the National Museum as a National Cultural Treasure on January 25, 2011.

Dangwa flower market

Dangwa Flower Market, also known as the Bulaklakan ng Maynila, is a fresh flower market in the Sampaloc area of Manila, in the Philippines. The market is composed of several small individually-owned stalls and street vendors selling flowers wholesale and retail 50 to 100 percent cheaper than Metro Manila’s flower shops. In 2004, it was home to 50 flower vendors. Most vendors, but not all, are members of the Dangwa Flower Market Association. The market is centered on Dos Castillas Street at the intersection with Dimasalang Road extending to other streets like Lacson Avenue and Maria Clara Street.

Masjid Al-Dahab

Masjid al-Dahab is situated in the predominantly Muslim section of the Quiapo district in Manila, Philippines, and is considered the largest mosque in Metro Manila. The Golden Mosque acquired its name for its gold-painted dome as well as for its location in Globo de Oro Street. Under the supervision of former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos, construction began on August 4, 1976 for the visit of Libya's President Muammar al-Gaddafi, although his visit was cancelled. It now serves many in Manila's Muslim community, and is especially full during Jumuah prayers on a Friday. The mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers. The mosque incorporates a mixture of foreign and local influences. Its dome and erstwhile minaret are patterned after Middle Eastern structures whereas its geometric designs borrow much from the colors and variations of ethnic Maranao, Maguindanao, and Tausug art. The curved lines are based on the serpent motifs in Maranao art. The mosque also exhibits stained glass panels by artist Antonio Dumlao. According to the mosque administrators, the minaret was torn down due to problems in structural integrity at the time of former Mayor Lito Atienza. There are already plans to rebuild the minaret as donations from all over the world are pouring in to reach the target of 12 million Philippine Pesos. The measurement of its dome is 12 meters in diameter and 10 meters in height

Plaza Dilao

Plaza Dilao is a public square in Paco, Manila, bounded by Quirino Avenue to the east, and the rest of the plaza surrounded by the Plaza Dilao Road and Quirino Avenue Extension. It is one of two open public spaces in Paco, the other being Paco Park. Currently, Plaza Dilao is one of five freedom parks in the City of Manila, where protests and rallies may be held without requiring permission from local authorities.

Plaza Lacson

Plaza Lacson, also known by its old name, Plaza Goiti, is a public square in Santa Cruz, Manila. It is bounded by Plaza Santa Cruz and Escolta Street to the west, Carlos Palanca Street to the south, and Carriedo Street to the east. Although the plaza is not considered the center of Santa Cruz, as it is located behind the Santa Cruz Church rather than in front of it, the plaza is considered to be one of the most important squares in Manila. Originally named after Martin de Goiti, who founded the City of Manila in 1571, it was renamed by Mayor Lito Atienza in 2003 after Arsenio Lacson, who previously served as mayor of Manila from 1952 to 1962.

Plaza Moraga is a public square in Manila, Philippines. Serving as the gateway to Manilas Chinatown of Binondo, the plaza is located at the foot of Jones Bridge in the west end of Escolta Street. It was named after a Franciscan friar, Fr. Fernando de Moraga and it is by the opinion of many, that were it not for him, the history of the Philippines would turn out differently from what it is now.

The plaza is considered to be the center of Intramuros.

Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz

Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz or Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz is a major public square in Binondo, Manila, bounded by Quintin Paredes Street to the east and Juan Luna Street to the west, parallel to the Estero de Binondo. It is the plaza that fronts the Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz, one of the main churches of the City of Manila, and is considered the center of Binondo as a whole. Originally called the Plaza de Binondo, and then Plaza Carlos IV after Charles IV of Spain, the plaza was eventually renamed Plaza Calderón de la Barca, after the famous Spanish playwright. It is believed that the plaza may have been renamed after Calderón either by the then-sitting Governor-General, or by the Dominican friars who were at the time running the Binondo Church, who had adored his works. The plaza was renamed after Lorenzo Ruiz, one of the Martyrs of Japan and the protomartyr of the Philippines, on September 12, 1981, by virtue of Batas Pambansa Blg. 133.

St. Francis Square

St. Francis Square is situated in the Karlova Ves borough of Bratislava, Slovakia. It also is a part of the Bratislava IV district. St. Francis Square was opened in 2004. Already in March 2005 they had a problem with collapse. Therefore it was closed for one more year and was finished and finally opened in May 2006. The square is designed to a shape of a circle. There is a nice fountain in the middle of the circle, surrounded by well grown grass, nice bushes, flowers and benches. There are trees only near the road, because under the square there is an underground garage. Half of the circle is enclosed by polyfunctional building.

San Ignacio Church

The San Ignacio Church of Intramuros, also called as Iglesia de San Ignacio, is located in the Intramuros district of Manila, Philippines. It was completed in 1899 by architect Felix Roxas, Sr. Its interiors, embellished with carvings, were designed by Isabelo Tampingco.

Baywalk

The Baywalk is a seaside promenade overlooking Manila Bay along Roxas Boulevard in the city of Manila, Philippines. The Baywalk is a two-kilometre stretch from the US Embassy and the Cultural Center of the Philippines just past the Manila Yacht Club. Baywalk Manila is a popular venue at night with open-air cafes that serve local cuisines while onlookers may watch the Manila sunset. Many of the venues also feature music and live band performances. Local artists frequent the area and free mime, acrobatics, and other art performances can sometimes be found along the strip.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran, is a private Roman Catholic Dominican institution of learning located in Intramuros, Manila, in the Philippines. The college was founded in 1620. Colegio de San Juan de Letran has the distinction of being the oldest college in the Philippines and the oldest secondary institution in Asia. It is owned and administered by the friars of the Order of Preachers of the Philippine Dominican Province. The school has produced Philippine presidents, revolutionary heroes, poets, legislators, members of the clergy, jurists, and it is also one of the only Philippine schools that has produced several Catholic saints who lived and studied on its campus. The school's patron saint is St. John the Baptist while its patroness is Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. The campus contains two statues, representing the two foremost alumni in the fields of secular and religious service: former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon and Vietnamese Saint Vicente Liem de la Paz. Letran has programs in Business, Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Digital Arts, Communication Arts, Accountancy, Engineering etc. The colleges are divided into six departments: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences , College of Business Administration and Accountancy , College of Education , Institute of Communication , Institute of Information Technology , and College of Engineering . The Colegio has successful athletic programs, particularly in basketball, football , volleyball, taekwondo, and tennis. Through the years Letran has produced numerous athletes that have donned the national colors in international events like the Olympics, Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games, Jones Cup, and FIBA World Championship. Letran is a long-time member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Colegio was given Level 3 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities in the Elementary department, the highest possible level for basic education; Level 2 for the High School department, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences , and the College of Business Administration and Accountancy . Letran remains in its original campus in Intramuros, Manila and is a member of the Intramuros Consortium.

Bahay Tsinoy

The Bahay Tsinoy is a museum located in the Intramuros section of Manila. Housed within the Kaisa-Angelo King Heritage Center building, the museum documents the history, lives and contributions of the Chinese in the Philippine life and history. The museum was designed by Eva Penamora in collaboration with the late architect Honrado Fernandez in 1996, and completed and inaugurated in 1999. Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc., a non-profit organization co-founded by Teresita Ang-See, envisioned the project to provide another venue for advocating patriotism to the Philippines and promoting cultural identity and understanding between the local Chinese and Filipino communities, after the acclaimed bi-lingual childrens educational television program Pinpin in the early 90s. Funding for the land and building structure was advanced by Angelo King Foundation and eventually raised through generous contributions from different levels of Filipino-Chinese community, from taipans to average wage-earners. The museum is divided into the following sections: Early contacts The Parian Colonial culture Emergence of the Chinese community In defense of freedom Life in the 1800s National leaders of Chinese descent Gallery of rare prints and photographs Martyrs hall Ceramics collection Rare Philippine shell collection Tsinoys in nation-building The museum is fully air-conditioned and housed within the Kaisa-Angelo King Heritage Center building, which also houses the office of Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc., Chinbin See Memorial Library, the Await Keng Theater Auditorium, the Benito Cu Uy Gam Hall, and the Pao Shi Tien and Madame Limpe seminar rooms, which all constitute the Kaisa Heritage Center.

Bahay Nakpil-Bautista

The Nakpil-Bautista House is one of the old houses found in the area of Quiapo, Manila. It was built in 1914 by Arcadio Arellano. The two-house originally seats on two lots, having a total area of 500 square meters. The National Historical Commission of the Philippines declared the house as a cultural property on August 25, 2011. Today, the house is a museum showcasing items of the Katipunan, paintings, among others.

Lichauco Heritage House

The Lichauco Heritage House,formally known as the OBrien-Lichauco Heritage House is one the oldest surviving houses in Santa Ana, Manila, Philippines. Originally built in 1859, the house was purchased by a prominent Filipino lawyer and dignitary, Marcial Lichauco from a European family who fled the Japanese occupation in the Philippines. The house was declared as a heritage house by the National Historical Commission on July 10, 2010. The Lichauco Heritage house is located along Pedro Gil Street. It is the the only declared heritage house in Santa Ana.

Rizal Park

Rizal Park, also known as Luneta National Park or simply Luneta, is a historical urban park in the Philippines. Located along Roxas Boulevard, Manila, adjacent to the old walled city of Intramuros, it is one of the largest urban parks in Asia. It has been a favorite leisure spot, and is frequented on Sundays and national holidays. Rizal Park is one of the major tourist attractions of Manila. Situated by the Manila Bay, it is an important site in Philippine history. The execution of national hero José Rizal on December 30, 1896 fanned the flames of the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Kingdom of Spain. The area was officially renamed Rizal Park in his honor, and the monument enshrining his remains serves as the parks symbolic focal point. The Declaration of Philippine Independence from the United States was held here on July 4, 1946 as were later political rallies including those of Ferdinand Marcos and Corazon Aquino in 1986 that culminated in the EDSA Revolution.

Capitol Theater

The Capitol Theater is an Art deco theater in Manila, Philippines. It was built during the 1930s along Escolta Street, part of the citys primary commercial district, together with the Lyric Theater. It was designed with a double-balcony by National Artist Juan Nakpil and was considered a rare feat during that era.

Gaiety Theater

The Gaiety Theater is a stand-alone art deco cinema house located at M.H. del Pilar Street in the Ermita district of the city of Manila. It was designed by Juan Nakpil, National Artist of the Philippines for Architecture, in 1935. The construction of these early theaters in the City of Manila provided the venue for early forms of entertainment like bodabil, a local adaptation of vaudeville, with most eventually converting to movie theaters with the growth and popularity of Philippine cinema in the metropolis.
