Neyyattinkara

Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram district is a municipal Town 20 km south of the kerala State capital Trivandrum on the National Highway 47 to Kanyakumari. The town spreads over an area of 16.21 km2 on the banks of the Neyyar River and is the headquarters of the Neyyattinkara taluk and the Neyyattinkara Revenue Division. It is a suburb of the extended metropolitan region of Thiruvananthapuram city. The name 'Neyyattinkara' in Malayalam regional language means shore of Neyyar River. This river flows from Agasthyarkoodam, the highest peak in southern end of the Western Ghats. The town comes under the surveillance of Neyyattinkara Municipality and it is the major town on the banks of Neyyar River. The rapidly growing Thiruvananthapuram city has almost reached its outskirts. The town is mostly residential, with lots of service sector establishments. The standard and generally accepted abbreviations of Neyyattinkara are NTA or NYY and NTKA used by Kerala State Electricity Board One of the most outstanding features of Neyyattinkara town is its transport service. There is 24 hours to and fro bus service in NH 47 connecting Nagarcoil » Neyyattinkara » Trivandrum. Further, there is to and fro rail service connecting Nagarcoil » Neyyattinkara » Trivandrum. Amaravila CSI church or C S I Amaravila founded in 1810 and known in those days as Emily Chapel, an oldest Church of Anglican Communion, is one of the main attractions of Neyyatiinkara Town. Christ Nagar (Prayer Gardens is situated in Christ Nagar), Keerthy Nagar, Bapuji Lane, Mythry Nagar, New Street, Thozhukkal, Pallivilakom, Chembarathivila (Neyyattinkara sub-jail/prison is situated in Chembarathivila), Koottapana, Irumbil, Stuart Nagar, Thavaravila, Vadakkey Kotta (includes Krishnan Koil), T B Junction (this area is so close to the administrative building of Neyyattinkara Municipality, Neyyattinkara Fire and Rescue Service and Railway Station), Ooruttukala, Convent Road (St. Theresa's HSS and Vidhyadhi Raja schools are situated in this road), Krishna Nagar, R C Street, Palakkadavu, Vlangamuri, Amaravila and Chaikkottukonam are the major residential areas in Neyyattinkara Municipal Limit. Aruvippuram (7 km from Neyyattinkara town), the holy land of Sree Narayana Guru is an important pilgrim centre.

Nalanchira

Nalanchira is a suburb of Thiruvananthapuram, formerly known as Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala State in India. It is the educational hub of Kerala and is called the Oxford of the South. It is situated between Mannanthala and Paruthippara. Nalanchira is approximately 8 km from the Thiruvananthapuram railway station and 11 km away from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The Main Central Road runs through this place. This middle class residential locality is famous for educational and social service institutions. The Nalanchira Bethany Hills were originally owned by a chettiar and was given to Mar Ivanios the founder of Syro-Malankara Catholic Church to start an educational institution. The main residential areas are Benedict Nagar, Christian medical centre lane, Parakodu lane, Mangalathu Lane, Convent Lane, Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, Puliyoor Gradens, Rose Nagar, Akshaya Gradens, Shawallace Lane, Post Office Line, Chathiode Lane, Udayannoor Lane, Kurishadi Jn., Anupama Nagar, Bethany Nagar Lane and Jayamatha Lane. Christians, Hindus and Muslims live in harmony in Nalanchira. The major churches are St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and St.Mary's Malankara Orthodox Church. Bethany Ashram, the first religious congregation in the Syro Malankara Catholic Church, has a house which was established in 1933 by Servant of God Arch Bishop Mar Ivanios OIC. This house is the mother house of the congregation and the Ashram Chapel is considered as the first church in Trivandrum by the Syrian Christian community. Near to Bethany Ashram, there situates the Provincial House of Bethany Navajeevan Province. At Bethany Nagar Lane there is one of the 'Dayaras' of Bethany Ashram which is also the Minor Seminary of the Congregation. Ashram runs the institutions such as Navajeevan Bethany Vidyalaya , Bethany Nature Cure Centre, Bethany College of Physiotherapy and Bethany Students Centre . Udiyannur Shiva Temple is one of the main temples, another major temple is the Eravipuram Sri Krishna Swami Temple.T he Uriyadi festival at this temple on the occasion of Janmashtami attracts devotees from all over the country. Udayannur Shiva Temple is unique among the siva temples by having two siva temples in the same temple campus. It is one among the oldest Siva temple in the city. Another famous temple is Ezhukanyavoor Devi. K. Muraleedharan of the United Democratic Front is the MLA representing Nalanchira in the state legislative assembly, while Shri Sashi Tharoor represents the area in the Lok Sabha. Bethany Nature Cure, an ayurvedic treatment and yoga centre, is located here. The Synaxis of the Bethany Ashramam held in the year 1998 decided to divide the congregation into two provinces, namely Bethany Navajeevan Province and Bethany Navajyothi Province is situated at Bethany Hill, Nalanchira, Trivandrum. The Jayamatha Orphanage, run by Franciscans Christian Missionaries, is also located in Nalanchira. This suburb is home to several educational institutions such as G-Tec Computer Education, Mar Ivanios College, Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Malankara Catholic Major Seminary, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Mar Theophilus teacher training college, Bethany College, St. John's School, St. Goretti’s School, Jaimatha Institutions, Navajeevan School, Hotel Management College and the Institution for Fire and Safety Engineering. Hospitals include KJK Hospital at Shawallace Lane which specialised in infertility treatment.

Technopark

Technopark is a technology park in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It is the largest information technology park in India in terms of built up area.The park is dedicated to IT ventures. Launched in 1990, Technopark as of 2015 has 9.33 million square feet of built-up area, and is home to over 350 companies, employing nearly 50,000 professionals. Technopark is currently on an expansion mode by adding another 37 hectares as part of Phase III expansion and 423 acres as Technocity—an integrated IT township near Pallippuram. The policy of economic liberalisation initiated by the government of India in 1991 and the rapid growth of the global software industry during the 1990s substantially contributed to its growth. During the global financial crisis of 2007–2010, the park saw a period of reduced growth in 2009-10, where the exports recorded was only 2.8% more than the previous year. As of 2014, Technopark accounts for about 55% of IT exports from Kerala. The units in Technopark include domestic firms, joint ventures and subsidiaries of foreign companies engaged in a wide variety of activities, which include embedded software development, smart card technology, enterprise resource planning , process control software design, engineering and computer-aided design software development, IT Enabled Services , process re-engineering, animation and e-business. Technopark is owned and administered by the Government of Kerala and is headed by a chief executive officer. In addition to this, it has a Governing Council and a Project Implementation Board, both of which include top officials of the government. Administrative offices, including that of the CEO, are housed in the Park Centre building. Technopark also hosts a Technology Business Incubation Cell under Kerala Startup Mission.
