Hum Hum

Hum Hum is a waterfall in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. It was discovered in 2010. It is situated in Razkandi Reserve Forest, Maulvibazar District, Sylhet Division. The height of the fall is about 147 to 160 feet. হাম হাম জলপ্রপাত সম্প্রতি আবিষ্কৃত অন্যতম সুন্দর একটি জলপ্রপাত। এটি ২০১০ সালে আবিষ্কৃত হয়। এই জলপ্রপাত টি সিলেট বিভাগের মৌলভিবাজার জেলার শ্রীমঙ্গল উপজেলার রাজকান্দি সংরক্ষিত বনে অবস্থিত। এই জলপ্রপাতের উচ্চতা ভূপৃষ্ঠ থেকে ১৪৭ থেকে ১৬০ ফুট।

Museum of Rajas'

Museum of Rajas is a folk museum in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The predecessors home of Hason Raja has been transformed into today’s famous Museum of Rajas, commonly known as Hason Raja Museum. It is situated at the heart of the Sylhet City Corporation area in renowned Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. It is about 10 kilometres from the Sylhet Osmany International Airport and 5 kilometres from the Sylhet Railway Station. Maintained and organized by the Educationist Dewan Talibur Raja Trust, named after the grandson of Dewan Hason Raja. The museums mission is to preserve and share the rich history of the great Raja Family of Sylhet keeping the Zamindar and Mystic poet Dewan Hason Raja Chowdhury in the center, and the folk literature, folk music and mystic poets of Sylhet Division. The museum promotes a greater public awareness of the rich cultural legacy of Sylhet. In pursuit of these goals, this museum collects archival materials related to Bangla folk literature, music and poets from the greater Sylhet region, and preserves these collections in a repository, open to the public. The museum also encourages and facilitates research on folk literature and history. The results of this research are made available to the public through museum exhibits, publications and presentations. It was formally inaugurated on 30 June 2006 by thousands of folk loving people by playing "Ek Tara" together, which was a unique event of this kind. Raja-Kunjo is by and large a hundred years old tin shade building having few rooms and other amenities including an exquisite piazza in the front. One has to cross few meters from the main gate to reach the Museum. Portraits of Hason Raja and his son Dewan Eklimur Raja Chowdhury are placed in the entrance to greet the visitors. Receptionist/ Museum Assistants welcomes the guests and conducts guided tour. This historic museum comprises two galleries, where historical artifacts and a good number of photographs are preserved befittingly.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology also known as SUST is a state supported not-for-profit research university located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is also one of the nine PhD granting research universities of Bangladesh. The university was founded by the Government of Bangladesh according to a university act in 1986 to give special importance in science and technology education. It is the first specialized science & technology university of the country. After SUST, seven more science and technology universities have been established in Bangladesh. SUST is traditionally known for research and education in the physical sciences and engineering. It is one of the most selective higher learning institutions, and received 41,285 undergraduate applicants for 2015-2017 session—only admitting 1,448, an acceptance rate of 3.51%. According to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, SUST is ranked 6th in Bangladesh.

Osmani Museum

Osmani Museum is a museum in Kotwali Thana of Sylhet, Bangladesh. The ancestors’ home of Bangabir General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, the Commander-in-Chief of Bangladesh Forces has been transformed into today’s famous “Osmani Museum”. It is situated at the heart of the Sylhet City Corporation area in renowned Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. It is about 12 km from the Sylhet Osmani International Airport and 3 km from the Sylhet Railway Station. Maintained and organised by the Bangladesh National Museum, this museum has been established to pay rich tribute to the great hero of Bangladesh for his outstanding accomplishments. This will surely act as a stimulus to the future generations. The foundation stone was laid on 16 February 1985 and it was inaugurated on 4 March 1987 by the then president of Bangladesh H M Ershad. ‘Nur Manzil’ is by and large a tin shade building having few rooms and other amenities including an exquisite piazza in the front. One has to cross few meters from the main gate to reach the Museum. A huge portrait of the General, placed in the centre of the entrance hall greets the visitors. Receptionist welcomes the guests. One has to write name and address in the register placed in the reception. A befitting sitting place is also available in the lobby. This historic museum comprises three galleries, where personal belongings of General Osmani and a good number of historical photographs are preserved befittingly. On both western and eastern side of the building there exist two small rooms, where Assistant Keeper and Care Taker’s office are situated.

Jamia Madania Angura Mohammadpur is a prominent Qawmi Madrasah and Islamic institute of Bangladesh. It is situated in Angura Mohammadpur, Beani Bazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh, Established on 17 safar 1381 hijri, 15 April 1961. The Jamia Madania , is one of the old and largest Islamic Institution in Bangladesh, with a high amount of students, teachers and stuff. Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College

Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College (SOMC) (Bengali: সিলেট এম.এ.জি ওসমানী মেডিকেল কলেজ) is a government medical school in Bangladesh, established in 1962. It is located in Sylhet. Originally named "Sylhet Medical College", it was renamed in 1986 in honour of General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, Commander-in-chief of Bangladesh Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. The college is affiliated with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology under the School of Medical Sciences. It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. It admits approximately 200 undergraduate and a good number of postgraduate students every year. It also offers 4 year's course on Bachelor Of Dental Surgery. (BDS)

Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College

Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College (JRRMC) (Bengali: জালালাবাদ রাগীব-রাবেয়া মেডিকেল কলেজ) is a private medical school in Bangladesh, established in 1995. It is located in the Pathantula area of Bimanbandar Thana, in Sylhet. It is affiliated with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) under the School of Medical Sciences. It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. The college is associated with 925-bed Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital. Jalalabad Medical Journal is the official journal of Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College.

Shamshernagar Airport

Shamshernagar Airport (IATA: ZHM, ICAO: VGSH) is a public use airport 17 kilometres (11 mi) southeast of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. It is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). Due to the short length of the runway it is restricted to STOL aircraft. As of July 2015, no scheduled passenger flights serve the airport, but civil air operations are allowed with prior approval. The U.S. 61st Air Service Group was based at Shamshernagar in the final months of World War II. On 31 December 1970, a Fokker F-27 Friendship 200 of Pakistan International Airlines on approach to Shamshernagar crash-landed short of the runway, turned over to the right, and burned. Seven of the 31 passengers on board died. According to East Pakistan Air Operations, 1971, during the Bangladesh Liberation War, Shamshernagar was the base of the first fighting formation of what would become the Bangladesh Air Force: a DC-3 Dakota, a DHC-3 Otter, and an Alouette III helicopter together known as Kilo Force. According to CAAB, currently airlines do not serve Shamshernagar because demand is too low for a route to be commercially viable without smaller aircraft than those the airlines operate. The Independent reported a senior CAAB official as saying, "If the airlines are not interested in using our airports, we can't force them to." The same official said a government subsidy could convince airlines to use Shamshernagar. As it is now, airport staff are paid without having to work.
