Blackham Coliseum

Blackham Coliseum is a multipurpose arena in Lafayette, Louisiana. It was built on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus in 1949 as the home to the then-named SLI Bulldogs, now called the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin Cajuns mens basketball teams. The arena was named for Stafford Morgan Blackham, former dean of the Department of Animal Husbandry at SLI, and as such it was built to host livestock exhibitions as well as athletics . It replaced the 1,500-seat Earl K. Long Gymnasium as home to the athletics teams. It remained the home for the mens team until the Cajundome was completed in 1984. The women still play the majority of their games at Blackham Coliseum. It hosted the Southland Conference mens basketball tournament in 1982. In the 1960s, it became popular as a venue for pop concerts where acts like The Supremes, James Brown and Jackie Wilson. The Supremes played to soldout audiences on their "Symphony Tour 1965". Today it is still in use, seating 5,500 for basketball and up to 9,800 for concerts. It also features 25,000 square feet of space at the main arena, with two barns adding 46,500 square feet of space. Altogether, the three buildings can also be used for trade shows, rodeos and conventions. It was home to the Lafayette Wildcatters of the Southern Indoor Football League for their 2009 season, and in fall 2009, the revived Louisiana IceGators began play there as a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League. In April 2009, the venue held its first heavy metal concert, the 2009 No Fear Music Tour featuring Lamb Of God, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, God Forbid and Municipal Waste. The venue serves as home to the Grammy-styled, annual Le Cajun Music Awards Festival held every August by the Cajun French Music Association, an association of Cajun music enthusiasts for the preservation of the Cajun music, language, heritage and culture.

Cajundome

Cajundome is a 13,500 seat multi-purpose arena located in Lafayette, Louisiana. It is home to the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin Cajuns mens basketball program, Louisiana IceGators of the Southern Professional Hockey League and the Louisiana high school basketball state championship. The arena also hosts many regional concerts and special events, such as World Wrestling Entertainment events and the annual outdoor Cajun Heartland State Fair, an eleven-day state fair that attracts over 175,000. The facility is a recognizable Lafayette landmark that was built by the State of Louisiana, funded by the City of Lafayette, and is owned by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and managed by the Cajundome Commission. From the mid-1990s through the mid-2000s it was home to the ECHLs now-defunct Louisiana IceGators. During that time, the arena earned the nickname The Frozen Swamp. In 2010 it became official that the Louisiana IceGators, now as part of the SPHL, would make a return to The Frozen Swamp. The Cajundome has been home to the Lafayette SwampCats of the EISL and the Lafayette Roughnecks of the af2. It also hosted the 1998, 1999, and 2007 Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball tournaments. The arena also hosts the annual Beta Club Louisiana state conventions.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a coeducational, public, research university in Lafayette, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It has the largest enrollment within the nine-campus University of Louisiana System and has the second largest enrollment in Louisiana. Founded in 1898 as an industrial school, the institution developed into a four-year university during the twentieth century and became known by its present name in 1999. UL Lafayette evolved into a national research university as noted by its Carnegie R2 categorization as a "Doctoral University: Higher Research Activity." It offers Louisiana's only Ph.D. in francophone studies and Louisiana's only industrial design degree. The university has achieved several milestones in computer science, engineering and architecture. It is also home to a distinct College of the Arts.

Cajun Field

Cajun Field is a football stadium located in the city of Lafayette, Louisiana. Nicknamed The Swamp, it is the home field of the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin Cajuns. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette stadium is primarily used for its American football and womens soccer athletic teams. Cajun Field has 2,577 chairback seats and bleacher seating to the capacity of another 33,323, giving the stadium an official seating capacity of 36,900. In planning since at least 1967, it was built in 1970 as a replacement for McNaspy Stadium, opening on September 25, 1971 with a shutout of Santa Clara University. The stadium consists of a bowl with seating on the sidelines, with a second deck on the east sideline. In one of the biggest games at the stadium, on September 14, 1996, 38,783 spectators saw the Cajuns upset 25th-ranked Texas AM, 29-22, the first victory for the Cajuns over a ranked opponent. The largest crowd at The Swamp as of 2013 was 41,357 fans on September 5, 2009, when the Cajuns beat Southern University 42-19 at the 9th annual Herbert Heymann Football Classic. Because of Hurricane Katrina, the 2005 New Orleans Bowl was played here instead of in New Orleans, with Southern Miss defeating Arkansas State, 31-19. Also the Tulane Green Wave football team used it for a home game in 2005 after being displaced by the hurricane. In addition, Cajun Field hosted the final pre-season game of the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League on February 18, 1984, a 20-0 victory over the Memphis Showboats.

M. L. Tigue Moore Field

M. L. Tigue Moore Field is a ballpark located in Lafayette, Louisiana. It was built in 1979 and has a capacity of 3,755 spectators. It is the home stadium of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin Cajuns baseball team. It was also home to the Lafayette Bullfrogs of the Central Baseball League. The facility originally named Moore Field was renamed after University of Louisiana at Lafayette benefactor, M.L. Tigue Moores death in 1994. Since 1999, Louisiana–Lafayette has consistently ranked in the Top 50 nationally in total and average home attendance. During the Cajuns’ 2000 World Series run, Louisiana–Lafayette ranked 26th in total home attendance. The 2003 season saw a record 70,267 enter "The Tigue". In 2010, the Cajuns were 32nd in average home attendance at 1,896 marking the 11th consecutive season with a 1,000-plus average. In 2013, the Ragin Cajuns ranked 30th among Division I baseball programs in attendance, averaging 2,144 per home game. Following the 2013 regular season, the scoreboard was replaced with a Daktronics HD video board and LED display.

Acadiana Mall

Acadiana Mall, called the Mall of Acadiana for a time, is an enclosed regional shopping mall in the city of Lafayette, Louisiana, and is located at the intersection of Johnston Street and Ambassador Caffery Parkway . It opened in 1979 and was developed by Robert B. Aikens & Associates, and is now owned by CBL & Associates Properties. Today, Acadiana Mall houses four department store anchors (Macy's, J.C. Penney, Sears, and Dillard's). J. C. Penney built in 1990 on the site of a closed Selber Brothers, while Dillard's was formerly D. H. Holmes. The Macy's store opened as Goudchaux's/Maison Blanche, and was sold to Parsian in 1998. Parisian became Foley's in 2001 before converting again to Macy's. The mall received a minor facelift in the early 1990s and a major renovation in 2004, bringing in a more contemporary look. On February 21, 2013, the mall changed its name back to Acadiana Mall.
