Oklahoma State University is a land-grant, sun-grant, coeducational public research university located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States. OSU was founded in 1890 under the Morrill Act. Originally known as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College , it is the flagship institution of the Oklahoma State University System. Official enrollment for the fall 2010 semester system-wide was 35,073, with 23,459 students enrolled at OSU-Stillwater. Enrollment shows the Freshman class of 2012 was the largest on record with 4,298 students. OSU is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a research university with high research activity. Oklahoma State University is listed by the Princeton Review as one of 120 “Best Western Colleges” for 2011, and as one of 50 "Best Value Colleges Public" for 2010. Oklahoma State University is one of the highest rated veterinarian colleges in the US. It is ranked by U.S. News & World Report No. 66 among "Top Public Schools: National Universities" and No. 132 among all National Universities for 2011. For 2009-10, Kiplinger listed OSU among its "100 Best Values in Public Education," with an in-state ranking of No. 91 and an out-of-state ranking of No. 93. In 2013, Oklahoma State was ranked number 23 on the Forbes list of "Best Value Colleges." The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Cowgirls' athletic heritage includes 51 national championships, a total greater than all but three NCAA Division I schools in the United States, and first in the Big 12 Conference. Students spend part of the fall semester preparing for OSU's Homecoming celebration, begun in 1913, which draws more than 40,000 alumni and over 70,000 participants each year to campus and is billed by the university as "America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration."

The Colvin Center is a student recreation center at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The state-of-the-art center offers 240,000 square feet of recreational space. The Colvin Center is a popular destination for many OSU students, thanks to the wide array of sports and physical activities available at the facility and serves an average of 4,000 students a day. Admission to the Colvin Center is free to Oklahoma State students, although every OSU student pays a fee along with their tuition towards maintenance of the center.

It is open during business hours but also allows for access during the weekends. The garden features over 1,000 species of herbaceous and woody plants apportioned between the Oklahoma Gardening studio gardens , and turf and nursery research. Display gardens include annuals and perennials, water garden, rock garden, butterfly garden, wildscape garden, Japanese tea garden, and yearly theme gardens.

Karsten Creek

Karsten Creek Golf Club is located 6 miles west on Highway 51, just outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma. It replaced Lakeside Golf Course as the home course of the Oklahoma State University Mens and Womens golf teams 1994. Karsten Creek now stands as the elite college golf course in America, and is a powerful aid in the recruiting and development of athletes in the 10-time national champion Cowboy golf program. Mike Holder, a former Cowboy golf coach and current athletic director at Oklahoma State, convinced famed golf course architect Tom Fazio to design the course in hopes of creating one of the most challenging courses in the United States on the Oklahoma plains. The course stretches over 7,400 yards with SR1020 bent-grass greens and zoysia fairways that wind through native blackjack oak trees. 110-acre Lake Louise comes into play on many holes, with the greens lying just a few yards away from the water on some occasions. Karsten Creek and Lake Louise earned their names to honor Karsten Solheim, founder of Karsten Manufacturing, and his wife Louise, both of whom have been great supporters of the Oklahoma State golf program for many years. The $4.5 million clubhouse was completed in June 2001.

Boone Pickens Stadium

Boone Pickens Stadium has been home to the Oklahoma State University Cowboys football team in rudimentary form since 1913, and as a complete stadium since 1920. The facility is the oldest football stadium in the Big 12 Conference but was left largely neglected and enjoyed only modest renovations throughout its near-century of existence. With the resurgence of Cowboy football sparked by the 2001 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Bedlam Series game and the subsequent 2002 Houston Bowl season, interest grew for a major overhaul of Lewis Field. An ambitious fund-raising project for the renovation dubbed "The Next Level" became the flagship effort of the Oklahoma State athletic department. Officially the capacity is 60,218.

Gallagher-Iba Arena

Gallagher-Iba Arena, also once known as "The Rowdiest Arena in the Country" and "The Madison Square Garden of the Plains”, is the basketball and wrestling venue at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States. Originally completed in 1938 and named the 4-H Club and Student Activities Building, it was soon renamed Gallagher Hall to honor wrestling coach Ed Gallagher. After renovations in 1987, the name became Gallagher-Iba Arena, as a tribute to longtime basketball coach and innovator Henry Iba.

Cottonwood Community Center

Cottonwood Community Center, built about 1889, is significant for its historic associations with the development of Stillwater, Oklahoma's rural agricultural community. The Center is indicative of school house architecture that was popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s in the Stillwater community. Of the four remaining one-room school structures in the Stillwater area, only the Cottonwood has been in continuous use from the time it was built to the present. It has been, and continues to be, an important focus of life for the rural community west of the town. The other one-room school house in Payne County listed as a National Historic Place is the Pleasant Valley School. It was named Cottonwood because there was an abundance of cottonwood from which the Center was constructed, using hand-cut wood. The building belongs to the School District of Stillwater but the community residents do maintenance and repair. The land belongs to a corporation of community residents.

Old Central

Old Central is the oldest building on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Originally built in 1894, it was the first permanent building on the Oklahoma A&M campus. Old Central's bell clapper once served as a traveling trophy in the Bedlam Series athletics rivalry between Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. The new "Bedlam Bell" is a crystal trophy modeled after Old Central's bell and is awarded to the winner of each individual athletics contest in addition to the overall series winner for each year.

Ingalls

Ingalls is a ghost town in eastern Payne County, Oklahoma, about 10 miles (16 km) east of Stillwater. The town was settled as a result of the "Unassigned Lands" land run in 1889, and had a post office from January 22, 1890, until October 31, 1907. It was named for Senator John J. Ingalls of Kansas. During the 1890s the population peaked at about 150, then began to decline. Ingalls became notable as the site of the Battle of Ingalls on September 1, 1893, which was a shootout between U.S. Marshals and the Doolin-Dalton gang. Three deputy marshals and two residents were killed, one of the residents being killed while shooting at the marshals. Several people were wounded, including two of the outlaws, and one outlaw was captured. A stone monument stands at Ingalls on Ash Street, an unmarked street by the fire station, a short distance from where one of the deputies was shot. A new post office, named Signet, Oklahoma, was established on a site northeast of the old Ingalls townsite on June 21, 1921, and became part of a new community. The residents protested and the name was then officially changed back to Ingalls. Only a few deserted, old buildings are still present, including replicas of the Ingalls Hotel, its actual name the Pierce O.K. Hotel, a livery stable, saloon, and general store. There used to be a schoolhouse, the first Sunday school for a Baptist church, right in front of the old fire station building. Today, the population is an estimated 150, like in its heyday. The land lots are mainly owned by three families that have lived in or near the town for at least 70 years, the Radford/Sharptons, the Burtons, and the Mathesons. Every Saturday night, seniors with ties to the community gather at the Ingalls Community Center for a music show. Usually, a reenactment of the Battle occurs on Sept. 1st of every year, but many of the actors have been getting older and unable to participate.

Boomer Lake

Boomer Lake is located in the city of Stillwater, Oklahoma and was completed in 1925. The lake, as an artificial reservoir, serves several purposes such as cooling the local power plant and providing entertainment and recreation. Boomer Lake has a surface area of 251 acres, watershed area of 8954 acres, shoreline length of 8.6 miles, shoreline development ratio of 4.17, and mean depth of 9.7 feet. In 2011 Boomer Lake underwent severe drying due to lack of water, with water levels dropping as much as 15 ft and the shoreline receding up to 40 ft in some areas. The lake serves as a great source for fishing and contains many varieties of fish such as largemouth bass, hybrid bass, saugeye, channel catfish, flathead catfish, crappie and many species of sunfish.

Hideaway Pizza

Hideaway Pizza is a restaurant originally opened in 1957 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Its original location is located in Stillwater at the corner of 3rd st and Knoblock, which is in close proximity to the Oklahoma State University campus. In 1993 the restaurant started opening locations outside of Stillwater. Currently, there are 4 locations in the Oklahoma City area, 1 in Edmond, 5 locations in the Tulsa area, 1 in Broken Arrow, and one in Norman. Hideaway became famous for their original thin crust recipe, which is always a classic, but their original light and fluffy hand-tossed recipe is also a fan and staff favorite. There is usually a range of approximately 22 Specialty Pizzas on the menu ranging from fan favorites such as the ATW which is appropriately named for its supreme topping mix and the Big Country or The Bozworth, both of which are loaded with fresh meats and fresh cheeses, to the employee submitted new favorites like Da Bomb which has unique toppings like thick balsamic glaze, salami, pineapple, and in-store fresh cut basil to top it all off.

Payne County Courthouse

The Payne County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Built in 1917, it is constructed of red brick and stone. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Its design is similar to the Tillman County Courthouse and the Okmulgee County Courthouse, both of which are also listed in the National Register.

Bennett Memorial Chapel

The Bennett Memorial Chapel is a building on the campus of Oklahoma State University located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The interdenominational chapel serves as a memorial to honor students from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University), who were killed during World War I and World War II and to honor Henry G. Bennett, president of Oklahoma A&M College, and his wife Vera, who died in a plane crash in Iran in 1951.

Hoke Building

The Hoke Building is one of the original commercial buildings in the downtown area of Stillwater (the Santa Fe Depot; the Citizens Bank Building, the Selph Building, the Walker Building, the Courthouse). It provided easy access to the Courthouse, and has housed attorneys, judges, dentists, insurance companies, and an abstract company. Space was provided to students at Oklahoma State University for dances and other activities. The original structure was two stories in height, measuring 40 feet x 90 feet. In 1922 a third floor and a second-floor addition were made, adding 10 feet to its depth. The building is made of brick, and has limestone lintels and window sills.

Walker Building

The Walker Building is one of the original buildings in the downtown area in Stillwater. Built in 1914, it is a two story red brick, 32 feet wide. The ground floor is 88 feet deep with a 10-foot passageway in the rear covered by a loft and a second story which is 100 feet deep. The Walker was originally a grocery, active for about 30 years.

Citizens Bank Building

Citizens Bank is one of the original buildings in the downtown area of Stillwater and only one of two buildings in the town with this early architectural style of the Nineteenth Century. It was constructed in 1894. Citizens Bank moved out in 1900, and a series of businesses have occupied the space to the present. These have included a harness and bridle shop (which later sold automobile tops), a barber shop with Stillwater's first beauty shop, a cafe, a Justice of the Peace who at various times ran a pawn shop, real estate office, insurance business, a feed store, bakery, clothing store and saloon. From 1936-1978 the building served as a shoe repair shop.

Josephine Reifsnyder Lustron House

The Josephine Reifsnyder Lustron House in Stillwater, Oklahoma is a historic prefabricated home, constructed of steel components including interior and exterior enameled steel panels, built in 1949. One of several Lustron houses built in Oklahoma during the post World War II housing shortage, this house is a well-preserved two-bedroom Lustron Westchester model with a detached Lustron garage. The Josephine Reifsnyder Lustron was built by the Lustron dealership of Hall and Abercrombie of Cushing and Stillwater. The dealership built two Lustrons in Cushing after constructing this first Lustron in Stillwater. This house was purchased by Josephine Reifsnyder in November 1949. The house changed hands several times between 1962 and 1983, and has been a rental property in the Oklahoma State University campus area for many years.

William Frick House

Built in 1903 by William Frick, owner of Stillwater's first feed store, it is one of the best remaining examples of turn of the century Victorian style cottages. The Frick House is a single story cottage. Carpenter gothic trim and octagon cut fish-scale shingles decorate the gables. A curving porch extends the width of the front of the house. The porch is enhanced with turned posts, with supporting brackets, turned railing posts and spindle bands under the eaves. Asbestos shingles have been added to the roof, which is decorated with a dormer with small ventilating window. The woodwork of the window is cut in a quatrefoil pattern and the peak of the dormer is decorated with additional scrollwork. The original section of the house, consisting of four rooms, has undergone very minimal alteration. Original wood paneling has been retained. The ceilings-have been lowered. The floor plan is original. In 1958 a four-room addition was added to the rear. This consists of two bedrooms, a living area, and a bath.

Stillwater Santa Fe Depot

The Santa Fe Depot was built in 1915 by the Santa Fe Railway Company, and used until 1953 when passenger traffic ended. It is a 100’X20’ red brick building. The oldest section of the building is a frame structure, built soon after the rail line was completed in March 1900. Originally, a 20’ x 75’ building served as both freight office and passenger depot. There was an open air passenger waiting area on the north end of the building, but is now enclosed and covered. The building is now owned by and serves as the national headquarters for Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma.

James E. Berry House

The Berry House was constructed in 1908. It is significant both because of its association with James E. Berry, Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma from 1935 to 1955, but also because of its unique architectural style, described as “vaguely Italianate with a Midwestern feeling.” It is a two-story rectangular wood frame with lapped wood siding. The front door is flanked by glass sidelights; three Tuscan columns on the front support the upper story. A bay window occurs on each side of the structure. The roof, which is double-hipped, is set off by three low dormers, one on the front and one on each side. The interior has been remodeled only slightly, and includes egg and dart molding, in-laid oak doors, stained glass, and wooden wall paneling.

Morrill Hall

Morrill Hall has been the home of various academic departments at Oklahoma State University-Stillwater. Constructed in 1906, it originally housed the agricultural college, administrative offices and the experiment station. In 1914, it was devastated by fire, but was reconstructed in 1915. Today, it houses the OSU English Department.

National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is a museum and hall of fame for amateur wrestling, headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2010, it began operating the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa.

Lakeside Golf Course

Lakeside Memorial Golf Course is a golf course located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Lakeside was opened in 1945 by architect and Oklahoma State University Golf Coach, Labron Harris. It served as the home course for the 10-time national champion Oklahoma State University Men’s Golf Team for almost 50 years until the opening of Karsten Creek Golf Club in 1994. Lakeside is currently owned and operated by the City of Stillwater. Labron Harris, OSU Golf Coach and South Central PGA President, served as Head Golf Professional until 1974. Lakeside has been the home course and training facility for many notable PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and prominent amateur players. Some of the world’s most important golf trophies have been on display in the golf shop. The US Amateur, the British Amateur, the team NCAA Championship, the individual NCAA Championship, the Walker Cup, Western Amateur, PGA Championship, American Cup and World Cups have occupied positions of prominence on the modest mantel alongside such less opposing trophies such as the Oklahoma Open and Oklahoma Amateur. In 1998, architect Tripp Davis renovated Lakeside to its current layout. The golf course stretches over 6,756 yards with SR1020 bent grass putting surfaces, 419 Bermuda fairways, and a mixture of zoysia/419 Bermuda tee boxes. The golf course wanders through mature blackjack oaks in the gentle rolling hills of north central Oklahoma. Lakeside is consistently ranked as one of the top public golf courses in the state of Oklahoma by Golf Digest Magazine. Lakeside was the recipient of the 2011, 2012, and 2014 South Central PGA Youth Player Development Award and the 2013 South Central PGA Merchandiser of the Year.

Allie P. Reynolds Stadium

Allie P. Reynolds Stadium is a baseball stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It is the home field of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys college baseball teams. It is named after former OSU and New York Yankees baseball great, Allie Reynolds.

Oklahoma A & M College Agronomy Barn and Seed House

The Agronomy Barn Seed House, located on the Agronomy Research Station of Oklahoma State University, was built in 1934. It is a brick, concrete, frame barn, measuring 108 feet long, 44 feet wide, and 37 feet 9 inches high, and is distinguished by a large gambrel roof. The ground floor as well as the loft is concrete. In design it is very typical of barns of the period. The barn was designed and constructed by Oklahoma State University students, architects, professors, and engineers.

Selph Building

The Selph was constructed in 1913. The Selph Building, adjacent to the Hoke Building is one of the original commercial buildings in the downtown area of Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States. Other buildings include the Santa Fe Depot, the Citizens Bank Building, the Hoke Building, the Walker Building, and the Courthouse. The structure was built to house a physicians's office on the second floor. The first floor was used for various commercial enterprises including a shoe repair shop and cafe. The Selph was one of the first buildings to provide for a public restroom. The Selph is an 18 foot storefront, 85 ft deep on the first floor, with a second floor 30 ft deep. The building is of red brick with limestone trim. On the south facade there is a brick outhouse.
