Putnam Museum

The Putnam Museum is a museum of history and natural science in Davenport, Iowa, United States. The museum was founded in 1867, and was one of the first museums west of the Mississippi River. It houses 160,000 historical artifacts and specimens. It is located at 1717 West 12th Street, at the corner of Division and West 12th Street on "museum hill," near Fejervary Park. The theatre has one of the largest movie screens in the state of Iowa, 57 by 70.

Union Station and Burlington Freight House

Wacky Waters Adventure Park

Wacky Waters Adventure Park was a water park located in Davenport, Iowa. In February 2015, it was announced that Wacky Waters has closed and the property has been sold to the Eastern Iowa Community College District, which will operate The Midwest Center For Safety And Rescue Training on the property, a training facility for fire departments. In 1986, a couple received national attention by having their marriage ceremony atop the parks "Daredevil" water slide. After exchanging vows, they kissed each other while sliding down the large slide.

Figge Art Museum

The Figge Art Museum is an art museum in Davenport, Iowa. The Figge, as it is commonly known, has an encyclopedic collection and serves as the major art museum for the eastern Iowa and western Illinois region. The Figge works closely with several regional universities and colleges as an art resource and collections hub for a number of higher education programs. The museum opened on August 6, 2005, and is the renamed successor to the Davenport Museum of Art, which was opened on October 10, 1928, as the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery. The museum has its roots in the Davenport Art Association, which was founded before February 23, 1878, and was re-located on November 15, 1889, to the Bianca Wheeler art studio. The Figge Art Museum is one of the oldest art institutions in the country and is considered the first municipal art gallery in the United States. The Figge won an AIA award. The new building was designed by Stirling Prize-winning Modernist British architect David Chipperfield. It was Chipperfields first architectural commission in the United States. The Figge Art Museum gets its name from the V.O. and Elizabeth Kahl Figge Foundation, which donated $13 million towards its $47 million construction. The Figge family, a local banking family of Swiss origin, has a long tradition of philanthropy and cultural enrichment. The first pieces of its collections were donated by Davenport community leader Charles Ficke, a successful lawyer and former mayor, who collected art from around the world. Robert E. Harsche, then Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, reported that to his knowledge no American public art gallery had "started out with so large a number of important paintings as a nucleus."

Davenport City Hall

Davenport City Hall is the official seat of government for the city of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The building was constructed in 1895 and is situated on the northeast corner of the intersection of Harrison Street and West Fourth Street in Downtown Davenport. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 1993.

B.J. Palmer House

Davenport Skybridge

The Davenport Skybridge is a pedestrian cable-stayed bridge that spans River Drive in downtown Davenport, Iowa. It connects LeClaire Park and Rhythm City Casino to a courtyard and parking ramp on 2nd Street, located right next to the River Music Experience. The bridge is 50 feet tall and 575 feet long, and was completed in 2005. It was designed by Holabird & Root and Neumann Monson, P.C. At the south end, facing the river, is an observation deck with a view of the Mississippi River, LeClaire Park Bandshell, the Centennial Bridge, and the Davenport Levee, where many festivals take place throughout the warmer months. The inside of the Skybridge contains kaleidoscope lighting. The lighting consists of 228 LED fixtures and 8,036 individual lights. The LEDs are capable of displaying various patterns. The lighting color and patterns can be adjusted for events occurring in the area, such as a red, white, and blue color scheme for the 4th of July; red and green for Christmas; and various other patterns. The Skybridge was a component of the Riverfront/Downtown Davenport improvement program, River Renaissance. The total cost of the structure was $7 million. Iowa taxpayers provided $3.5 million in the form of a Vision Iowa grant, Rhythm City Casino paid $2 million, and the City of Davenport taxpayers spent $500,000 for its initial construction. The Riverboat Development Authority, the agency responsible for distributing some of the taxes collected from Rhythm City, allocated $1.3 million. The bridge's stated purpose is to serve as a tourism attraction with a unique vantage point of the Mississippi River, while also functioning as a safe way to cross the highway.

Dillon Memorial

The Dillon Memorial is located in LeClaire Park, near downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 1993. It is commonly referred to as the Dillon Fountain.

Centennial Park (Davenport, Iowa)

Centennial Park is one of four parks located along the Mississippi River in downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. The other three are LeClaire Park, which is immediately to the east of Centennial Park, Veterans Memorial Park, which is being developed immediately to the west, and River Heritage Park that is under development on the far east side of downtown. Development of the 250-acre park was begun in 2000. Its name is derived from the Rock Island Centennial Bridge, which is on the east side of the park. Centennial Park features a boat ramp, a playground, a gazebo, fishing areas, a dog off leash area, basketball courts, a sprayground, and a skateboard park. The skate board park is used for skateboarding, roller blades and BMX bikes. The Riverfront Parkway passes through the park, and the River’s Edge, an indoor sports complex operated by Davenport Parks and Recreation, is on the northeast corner of the park.

Duck Creek Park and Golf Course

Duck Creek Park and Golf Course is located on the east side of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The property was originally a private arboretum south of Duck Creek. It was developed in the 1930s as a public works project during the Great Depression. The 211-acre park features picnic shelters, tennis courts, playground, a public golf course and Duck Creek Lodge. The Stampe Lilac Garden and Gazebo is a popular location for weddings. The park connects with the Duck Creek Parkway. The golf course is an 18-hole, par 70 course. It is a 140-acre course and is 5,759-yard long. The course features mature trees and rolling hills. An automatic drainage system was installed in 1994.

Duck Creek Parkway

Duck Creek Parkway is located in the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf in the U.S. state of Iowa. The parkway is 13.5 miles long and passes through multiple parks as it makes its way along Duck Creek. The parkway is the oldest recreational trail in the Quad Cities and has its roots in the 1930s when the first section was built as a park road. The present design for the parkway and the bike path date from the 1970s. It begins at Emeis Park and Golf Course on the west side of Davenport and passes through Northwest Park, Marquette Park, Junge Park, Garfield Park, Eastern Avenue Park and Duck Creek Park and Golf Course where it enters Bettendorf. In Bettendorf it travels through Middle Park, Veterans Memorial Park and Devils Glen Park before it comes to an end. The parkway stretches 8.36 miles in Davenport and 5.14 miles in Bettendorf. There are plans to connect the parkway and recreational trail with the Riverfront Parkway and Sunderbruch Park.

Emeis Park and Golf Course

Emeis Park and Golf Course is a 210-acre park located on the west side of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The park features picnic shelters, playground equipment, ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and a golf course. It is the western terminus for the Duck Creek Parkway. The golf course is an 18-hole, par 72 course. It is a 155-acre course, 6,500-yard long, and built on gently rolling hills. It is Davenport’s most challenging public golf course, and has hosted the Quad City Amateur Tournament and qualifying rounds for PGA Tour's John Deere Classic.

Fejervary Park

Fejervary Park is located in the west end of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The 75-acre park is dominated by rolling green grass hills and trees. It features play ground equipment and an aquatic center. The Putnam Museum is located just to the east of the park.

Indian Springs Park (Davenport, Iowa)

Indian Springs Park is a public park located on the east side of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The park is located on 3 acres in a bowl north of East River Drive and to the west of a railroad trestel bridge. The land was donated to the city in 1921 by Mrs. D. N. Richardson with the expressed purpose of creating a park. The property contains a spring that was used by Native Americans, for which the park derives its name, early travelers as well as the areas first settlers. The spring itself was capped in 1929 and a pipe 6 inches in diameter directs the water into a storm drain. During the high water season in the spring the park's basin fills with spring water and shore birds return to nest. The park, which is largely undeveloped, has served as a play area for the neighborhood children and students from neighboring Hoover Elementary School and later the day care that is housed there. The park is a contributing property in the Village of East Davenport Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It was added to the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 2005.

Riverfront Parkway

Riverfront Parkway is located along the Mississippi River in the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf in the U.S. state of Iowa. The parkway is a bike and walking trail that extends for 11 miles starting at Credit Island on the west passing through Davenport for 7.6 miles before entering Bettendorf. It continues for another 3.4 miles at its terminus on the east side of Bettendorf. On Credit Island the bike path circles the park for 2.62 miles . On its way east from Credit Island it passes through Veterans Memorial Park, which is being developed, Centennial Park, LeClaire Park, River Heritage Park that is being developed on the east side of downtown Davenport, and Lindsay Park. In Bettendorf it passes through Leach Park. There are plans to connect the park to the Duck Creek Parkway and Sunderbruch Park in the future. There are public art installations along the parkway at Credit Island, Lindsay Park and Leach Park.

Sunderbruch Park

Sunderbruch Park is a 134-acre park located in the west end of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The park is largely undeveloped and consists of three different trail systems: hiking, off road biking and equestrian. The off road biking trails includes difficulty ranging from green to black diamond in its seven mile system. The green trails are two miles of wooded scenery. It features a few small log crossings, one ladder bridge and one corduroy feature. The blue trails provide moderate changes in elevation, some rooted and off-camber terrain and a variety of corduroy sections and log crossings. The black trails have more challenging ascents and descents in elevation, creek crossings, narrow winding trails, roots, skinnies, drops and multiple log crossings. In addition to the biking trails there are also 4.5 miles of equestrian trails.

Frick's Tavern

Frick's Tavern is an historic building located in the West End of Davenport, Iowa, United States. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The building is a two story brick structure that sits on the northwest corner of West Third and Fillmore Streets. It is part of a small commercial district near the historic German neighborhoods and the industrial areas along the Mississippi River. It is a typical commercial building in the West End which combines commercial space on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.

Werthman Grocery

Werthman Grocery is located at a commercial intersection in a residential neighborhood in the West End of Davenport, Iowa, United States. While it initially housed a grocery store, the building has been a long time neighborhood tavern. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

River Music Experience

The River Music Experience is a multi-use music facility and 501(c)3 non-profit organization located on the first two floors of the historic Redstone Building in downtown Davenport, Iowa. The stated purpose of the River Music Experience is to give Quad City residents and visitors opportunities to experience America's music, especially the music of the Mississippi River, through live musical performances, and programs which nurture, educate and inspire musicians and music appreciators. The River Music Experience is the home of the RME Cafe, a coffee shop and live music venue, Redstone Room . RME Cafe and its community stage plays host to over 150 performances per year. These range from a weekly open-mic night to the top local bands, and are typically open to the public and free of charge. The Redstone Room is a state-of-the-art music venue hosting national and regional acts that play original music. The River Music Experience offers a broad array of educational programming including Rock Camp USA (a branch of the highly successful school launched by the Austin School of Music), the Sound Lab educational recording studio (offering a 24-week, 96-hour certification in Audio Production), traditional music lessons, weekly open mic nights, monthly jazz jams, the "Songwriters in the Round" workshops, monthly Community Drum Circle, Winter Blues workshop series, and the ongoing River Currents Tours a co-production with the Figge Art Museum which introduces grade-school students to the history of American roots music. For the past five years, the River Music Experience has organized River Roots Live, an annual two-day music festival held on the banks of the Mississippi River in Davenport's LeClare Park. The festival has featured acts like Little Feat, The BoDeans, Edgar Winter, the Black Crowes, Junior Brown, Umphrey's McGee, Greg Brown (folk musician), America (band), Alejandro Escovedo, and many others.

Burtis-Kimball House Hotel/Burtis Opera House

The Burtis-Kimball House Hotel and the Burtis Opera House were located in downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It has since been torn down and it was delisted from the National Register in 2008. The theatre building has been significantly altered since a fire in the 1920s. Both, however, remain important to the history of the city of Davenport.

First Church of Christ

It is the first church congregation organized in the city of Davenport and the second, after St. Raphael's Cathedral in Dubuque, in the state of Iowa. The parish buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church Complex. The designation includes the church and the former school building, which is the parish's original church building and is the oldest standing church building in the state of Iowa. The designation also included the rectory, which was torn down in 2009. It is also listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 1992 as St. Anthony's Church Square. The property has been known historically as Church Square.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church

Saint Joseph Catholic Church is a former Catholic parish of the Diocese of Davenport. The church is located in the west end of Davenport, Iowa, United States. The church and the rectory are listed together on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties and the church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The church building currently houses Grace Fellowship Church. Its school building houses Marquette Academy, a private non-denominational elementary school.

St. Mary's Catholic Church

St. Mary's Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Davenport. The church is located in Davenport, Iowa, United States, at the corner of Fillmore and W. 6th Streets. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Complex. The designation includes the church building and rectory on the west side of Fillmore Street, and the school building operated by the parish and convent are on the east side. A former school building operated by the parish at 1334 W. 8th Street is also on the National Register and is listed as St. Mary's Academy.

St. Paul Lutheran Church

St. Paul Lutheran Church is located in central, Davenport, Iowa, United States. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The church's original property, which subsequently housed other Protestant congregations, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It has since been torn down. The present complex that was built in 1952 contains two buildings that are contributing properties in the Vander Veer Park Historic District. The present church building was completed in 2007.

Swedish Baptist Church

The former Swedish Baptist Church, located at 700 East Sixth Street, in Davenport, Iowa, United States is an historic structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The congregation was organized in 1883 in the city's Swedish neighborhood and included about 50 people. The building was originally a Presbyterian Church and was moved here from its original location at Eleventh and Scott Streets. In the 1920s it became Second Baptist Church and by the 1930s it was renamed Grand Avenue Baptist Church. The building subsequently housed other denominations, including the Mennonites, and now houses Kingdom Generation Church. The church building is a simple frame building with Greek Revival and Romanesque Revival elements. The structure is more typical of 19th century rural and small-town Iowa Protestant churches rather than those found in an urban center.

Antoine LeClaire House

The Antoine LeClaire House, located at 630 East 7th Street Davenport, Iowa, United States, is a community center that was built as a private home by one of the founders of city of Davenport. It also housed two of Davenport's Catholic bishops. The home was constructed in 1855. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and the Davenport Register of Historic Properties in 1992.
