Frauenfriedenskirche

The Frauenfriedenskirche is a Roman Catholic church in Bockenheim . It was built by Hans Herkommer from 1927 to 1929, on a rise then known as Ginnheimer Höhe. The church is an unusual example of interwar modernist church architecture, combining elements of expressionism with the "New Objectivity" of Bauhaus architecture, and using monumental mosaics for external and internal decoration. The plan to build such a church was developed in 1916 by Hedwig Dransfeld, then chairperson of the Katholischer Deutscher Frauenbund (Catholic German Women's Organisation). The church was meant to represent a prayer for peace in stone and also serve as a memorial for the fallen of the First World War. The foundation money initially collected for the project was lost due to the 1914-1923 German hyperinflation. The church was finally completed on 5 May 1929 and handed to the Catholic congregation of Bockenheim. It was badly damaged in the Second World War, and afterwards rebuilt with money donated for the purpose. The names of any German soldiers killed or missing in either World War were displayed in the church in return for a donation.

Messe Torhaus

Messe Torhaus is a high rise building in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt, Germany. It was designed by Oswald Mathias Ungers. Built by Hochtief, 400 workers constructed the 60,000 ton building in a record time of 13 months from 1983 to 1984. Its unusual shape and use of materials resembles a guillotine. The building houses the administration of Messe Frankfurt as well as services like a kindergarten and the press centre. The building consists of three interconnected components: from a single triangular concave grows out a building with a red stone façade. He pointed at the front and back is a lot of storeys high, square opening. Through this opening, an inner, spiegelverglaster component is seen, grows out of the outer and reaches about double of its height. It is 117 m high and has 30 floors. In addition to the headquarters of the Administration Center, the gatehouse, the central point of contact for exhibitors and visitors: The level two and three house all the necessary service facilities of contacts for the stand construction, catering and hostess service throughout the central exhibition, as well as tourist information including accommodation reservation to supermarket, post office and hairdresser. Even with a nursery can be used by Messe Frankfurt, and the only German trade fair location, it offers in-house opportunity for reflective moments prayer room . Also at level four we find the press center with all service facilities for journalists. From level three of the gatehouse can be reached since January 1999 directly to the S-Bahn Frankfurt Messe. In the immediate vicinity is located on the fairgrounds of Messe Frankfurt, the CHP Mainova AG, which serves as a gate house chimney. Therefore, the building is also known as "Frankfurt's most beautiful fireplace.

Investment Banking Center

IBC Tower is a skyscraper in the IBC building complex in Bockenheim district of Frankfurt, Germany. At 30-storeys and 112 m , it is considerably the taller than the other two buildings named IBC Tower A, and IBC Tower B, which are both ten storeys. The IBC was built by Deutsche Bank on a design by architect Kohler and was completed in 2003. It is situated at Theodor-Heuss-Allee close to the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds. Originally, Deutsche Bank planned as Investment Banking Center to concentrate their traders in the complex. This has never been implemented. Finally, Deutsche Bank sold the entire complex to the U.S. financial investor Blackstone Group and only rented Building B, in which the German Private and Business Bank AG and parts of the Deutsche Bank Human Resources division moved in. Building A was rented by the Degussa Bank GmbH, ING Real Estate Development and Construction and the INDUSTRIA rental company rented mbH. In 2006, Deutsche Bank also temporarily rented Building C, the IBC Tower, because of a major renovation in their company headquarters, the Deutsche Bank Twin Towers. The renovation was completed in 2011.
